It is quite typyical just before an AMD graphics card launch to see NVIDIA throw some gasoline on the fire. a Facebook wall post by NVIDIA Italy which reads in Italian of course: Aspettando Kepler...... More...
I already anticipate the storm of AMD fans shouting here and there about this... Anyway, as a Green-team fan, I am simply glad Kepler is finally coming to life (though, I am still undecided, what pair of cards to take... =( Regardless of performance, compatition is always a great thing for us - buyers\gamers\users\geeks...
Yeah, you'll need a 2KW PSU to run it. The specs please and some info :nerd: Spoiler Mod Edit: English please
No matter how much power it needs, if it is indeed 'unbeatable', enthusiasts will flock to it like bees to honey. For enthusiasts, 'fastest' is a much more sell-able trait than 'economical'. They do not care if it consumes more power or even of it is more expensive, as long as its fastest, they will buy.
Yeah right. Who cares, more power consumption will cause higher temps and the card can "explode". But it will be Unbeatable :nerd: Anyway: Nvidia will show Kepler on 23 March http://translate.google.com/translate?hl=en&sl=auto&tl=en&u=http://www.expreview.com/18628.html 3 weeks :nerd:
Of course Nvidia will say that. They're not going to say "Oh we barely beat AMD's new series." "Oh we're about 10% better!" Unbeatable sounds better. Of course no benchmarks or specs to go along with his words. They want page hits!
right..it's unbeatable even if it beats ati's high-end by 1%..so this rumor is such a epic fail..show us what unbeatable means nvidia..
I never read such words from AMD or another big "player" in industry. Why not to show card and some specs? :nerd: So, I have a fan. Good
Was that an official statement? I assumed it was just one of the many, many rumors circulating. Besides, the OP quote isn't exactly a press release, and the high end Kepler chips will likely beat AMD's cards, they will just be out later.
Yeah, when did Nvidia say it will fall between a 7950-7970 lol. Also think people have short memories and have forgotten that before Fermi, it was AMD/ATI who were one of the worst offenders for bringing out hot, power hungry cards, and all the rumours so far point to Kepler using less power than the 7970. Not sure what to make of this though, a comment on the Italian Facebook isn't exactly official, and could just be an over enthusiastic employee.
How far back are we talking? Because while the 4870 had quite high idle power consumption, the main drawback of the card to my mind, it wasn't staggeringly bad by any stretch of the imagination. Compared to the competition at the time, such as the 260, it was certainly competitive.
^ haha well said All those leaked benchmarks did. And most of them were overinflated by default, so it could be even lower in the end. No one said GK110 will be weak, Im looking forward to that real Kepler, but not at this mainstream 256bit crippled poop
Leaked benchmarks and claims went from slower than Pitcairn to twice the speed of a 570, none of them were legitimate enough to be anything more than fun to talk about speculation. The fact some people, who have no inside information at all, are so confident that it will be either be really fast, or really slow is a mystery to me.
yes, yes.. let's see some benchmark numbers already. I take it this card is supposed to out perform the 7970 and cost 300 USD according to all the rumours? well they've had long enough to work on it.
