    Looks like EVGA will be expecting a lot of RMAs (until Rev 2.0 comes out with stronger VRMs).

    And PNY will be rejecting a lot of RMAs because the "lifetime of the product" has ended right when you heard that pop. ;)

    WTF, thats nonsense going from:
    .938->1.000->1.2V
    So he upped the voltage by 28% and expected it to be ok? lol, i wouldnt go above 1.300 on my 6970( and at that only for benchmarks ) and its default is 1175( thats a 10% overvolt )

    Sweclockers went to 1.025v. Still went boom. Watch the video.

    It sounds like NVIDIA did not give much room for this card. Squeezing two full 512-shader Fermi cores on the board with sub-par VRMs.

    Also:
    So if everything was working by design, the card should have protected itself, since OCP was still on.

    PNY's warranty doesn't cover overclocking....in fact, the last time I had a PNY card, the warranty terms specifically stated that damage caused by overclocking wasn't covered.

    They got it to run like a pair of 580's np
    they kept it cold and it ran well...althuogh i think they did kill one too.

    In reality 2 so far for Lab501 ...

    I quote Micutzu from Lab501.
    It's not about the cooling , the PWM is too weak, just as it is on the GTX 570. Two GTX 590 died the same way here, one in our test lab and one in a demo system of a reseller, both not overclocked or overvolted; Nvidia says some faulty components not found on retail parts caused it, but both us and TPU had retail package GTX 590's.

    wait...
    uploaded by swecab on Mar 24, 2011 IMPORTANT: The supplied Geforce Drivers 267.52 for Geforce GTX 590 will not stop the card from overheating when overclocking. Please use newer versions from the Nvidia website and stay away from 267.52. Otherwise this may happen ...

    Settings used during card failure:
    GPU Clock @ 772 MHz
    GPU VCore @ 1,025 V
