Anyone able to help here, I installed Windows 8.1 on my second machine which consists of a Q6600 G0 and an Asus P5K Premium Wi-Fi AP mobo This one: http://support.asus.com/download.aspx?SLanguage=en&m=P5K Premium/WiFi-AP&os=17 Everything is working perfectly fine, but for the life of me I can not find a driver for the built in wireless? Anyone know where I can find a driver for W8.1 or is it a case of dropping back down to W7? The latest driver on Asus website points to a driver that will not install on W8 either through the software installer or in device manager. Thanks for any help!
It seems the Asus wifi on that motherboard is a Realtek 8187 USB. More specifically, it seems to be just an included N-etgear WG111v2 by the driver. N-etgear don't have anything close to a Windows 8.1 driver for this either. You could try: In Intern-et Explorer (the word n-et without the hyphen is blocked on here), open: http://catalog.update.microsoft.com/v7/site/Search.aspx?q=rtl8187 (if it doesn't load, go to http://catalog.update.microsoft.com first and install). You must use Intern-et Explorer for that, it will NOT work in any other browser. There is a driver compatible with Windows 8.1 there. There are multiple listings for different versions and 32-bit and 64-bit, I'm sure you will work it out. Due to the age of the wireless chipset that will probably be the latest you can get.
You tried installing the Win7 drivers on Win8.1? http://www.realtek.com.tw/products/productsView.aspx?Langid=1&PFid=1&Level=6&Conn=5&ProdID=36
