Anyone able to help here, I installed Windows 8.1 on my second machine which consists of a Q6600 G0 and an Asus P5K Premium Wi-Fi AP mobo

    This one: http://support.asus.com/download.aspx?SLanguage=en&m=P5K Premium/WiFi-AP&os=17

Everything is working perfectly fine, but for the life of me I can not find a driver for the built in wireless?

Anyone know where I can find a driver for W8.1 or is it a case of dropping back down to W7? The latest driver on Asus website points to a driver that will not install on W8 either through the software installer or in device manager.

    Thanks for any help!

It seems the Asus wifi on that motherboard is a Realtek 8187 USB. More specifically, it seems to be just an included N-etgear WG111v2 by the driver. N-etgear don't have anything close to a Windows 8.1 driver for this either.

    You could try:

In Intern-et Explorer (the word n-et without the hyphen is blocked on here), open:
    http://catalog.update.microsoft.com/v7/site/Search.aspx?q=rtl8187

(if it doesn't load, go to http://catalog.update.microsoft.com first and install).

You must use Intern-et Explorer for that, it will NOT work in any other browser.

There is a driver compatible with Windows 8.1 there. There are multiple listings for different versions and 32-bit and 64-bit, I'm sure you will work it out. Due to the age of the wireless chipset that will probably be the latest you can get.

Win7 drivers should work no issues.
