Hello gurus, So my 780 ti guy backed-out on me and just so happens a buddy of mine bought himself a pair of 980s so he is willing to sell me his 780 for $150 bucks, schould I go for it or no? My plan is to take my Gtx 770 and put it in my kids system that rocks a A10 7870K and I will get the 780 with my Fx 6300,what do you think? I have seen the benchmarks and they are not that far apart (depending on the game) maybe 10-15 fps once you overclock the 780. Thanks guys.Nz
Your CPU unfortunatelly dont match with that beasty card.Mean you will bottleneck in some recent games. You know all devs work with Intel dev tools.
$150 for GTX780 is a bargain, I would buy it for sure for that price without thinking twice. Stock 780 will trash stock 770, even highly oc'ed 770 struggles to beat stock 780 and with decent oc'ed 780 expect around 780Ti performance. OC that FX6300 a bit more to lower the CPU bottleneck when it's paired with 780.
I would do it. Your CPU will hold you back in a few scenario but not all the time and when you get the intel upgrade you will get a GFX boost at the same time. I love my 780 ist an awesome card.
780 is old now, slow 3GB GDDR and will not last you long, giving the posibility that the original owner oc'ed the hell of it. Stretch your budget a bit more and buy 960 or better
Slow gddr5 memory on 780? Where are you getting that crap? It pushes double the bandwidth compared to 960, it have alot more gpu power as well. 970 is 330$ while gtx960 4GB (which cant even use it properly) is 240$. Seriously 960 is a trash. Even with all the Kepler downgrade controversy i think 780 is damn worth 150$.
There is no kepler downgrade, it is hyped by amd schills trying to hurt nvidia, with over 80% of the discrete gpu market, those people are doing a terrible job.
Well there isn't any but the increase of tesselation in games kinda makes me worried. If it is done on purpose its a smart move albeit grimy by nvidia since both Kepler and AMD suffer from it. Anyway I still wouldn't get a 960 over a 780, 780 is simply better.
With AMD cards you can control tesselation level while Kepler cards cant. Setting my tesselation level in Fallout 4 or Witcher 3 to 8-16X makes a hell of a difference with no quality change.
lmao guys, mahanddeem & Ndimz. For the same amount of money ($150 in OP's case) I'll take used 780 ANYTIME even if I could get new 960 4GB for the same amount if money, and all of us here know you can't. 960, 2GB or 4GB nevermind, is barely enough for decent 108p 60fps gaming. 780 still could deliver quite of a punch in 1080p, even in 1440p gaming region, especially when it's OC'ed.
Alot of great info here guys thank you very much!!! .... Now not to downplay anyones hardware here that is not my intention but I would not even consider a Gtx 960 no offence. Yeah Like I said in my original post I will put the 780 in my rig and give the 770 to my kid-she just got a A10 7870k so she could use a little boost in the gpu department. But to be honest her machine is perfectly fine for gaming just the way it is,but that is a diffrent matter alltogether.
could you stretch your budget for a used 970? http://forums.guru3d.com/showthread.php?p=5193256#post5193256
I could hold-off TK yes, I have seen used Gtx 970s at Microcenter for $220 Refrence design cooler 4gb or 3.5 gb I schould say haha. So you would say a 970 is faster then a 780?
