the router is a Netgear N300. Whenever I attempt to connect any device to the network via Wifi (mobile phone, laptop), the internet goes down and windows network diagnostics tells me that there is a DNS error. Has any one experienced this problem, and if so, what is the solution? I haven't always had this problem, it's intermittent, but lately when I connect a wifi device it works for a short period and then BAM no more internet. I tried using the PS3 wifi when I first got it but I was running into this problem so I just connected it through ethernet.

What is the error code? It should be recorded in Event Viewer....

The eventID for the DNS error is 1014-

Example of the problem- I set my phone to wifi mode right now, my phone loaded 1 song from Pandora and then the internet went down and I had to re-start my router.

Sounds like you need a new router.

Try hard resetting the router to factory settings and set it back up again

Factory re-set worked for some reason.. It had something to do with the way I configured my wireless I guess

Sometimes they just bug out and need a reset, mine does it occasionally and I normally only remember about resetting it AFTER I have spent hours troubleshooting the problem

It drops connection when too many devices are networked, routers do this when they are dying. Overheating usually kills routers.

A reset will fix it temporarily but the problem will only get worse.
