I thought it might be fun for us to post our CPU and GPU ownership history. Seems like I've gone through a few PCs in my life, and I'm overdue for another one soon. Anyhow, I'll start:

    1. (TRS-80 Color Computer)Motorola 6809E + MC6847DG
    2. Intel 80286 + EGA card (can't remember the brand)
    3. Intel 80486 + Trident 8900
    4. AMD 5x86 (486) + Trident 9440
    5. Intel Pentium / Trident 9440
    6. AMD K6-2 + Matrox Mystique + 3dfx Voodoo
    7. Intel Celeron 300a / Matrox Mystique 220 / Voodoo 2
    8. Intel PIII-S / Voodoo 3 / GeForce 2 MX
    9. AMD Athlon XP / GeForce FX5200 / 6600GT
    10. AMD Opteron 64 / GeForce 7600GT / 9600GT / 9800 GTX
    11. Intel Core2 Q6600 / GeForce GTX 260 / 460 / 560

The list isn't totally complete, but these were the main bits. Other stuff wasn't used for long or I've forgotten about. I don't remember most of the clock speeds, and everything from the Pentium onward got overclocked anyhow, so it's even more confusing after that.

Who can remember things like that?
I know my first one was a commodore c64 and the last one is in my signature.
Must be at least 20 or so in between with most of the Amiga models and 486-dx100 or so after doom came out.. I think i had a vodoo 1 card and some amd's when they where a true competitor to intel.

Oh, my first pc was a apple 2 which I bought from a garage sell to mess with, then I was given this gigantic laptop with Windows 3.1 that I destroyed a week later. My first real pc though, was a hand me down amd k5 100mhz with 16mb of ram and I think 1Gb of hard drive space.

I tried to upgrade that piece of junk with more ram but it kept frying them, I got a voodoo3 2000 pci for it but the CPU was a pain. This was until I convinced my father to buy me a new pc, he spent 2k$ on it which was a lot back then and got me a Compaq pressario with a Pentium 3 450mhz, 96mb ram and some awful agp videocard I got rid of for the voodoo3 2000. This, my friends, was when I learned about the real ins and outs of the pc world.

    3 years later, I bought a amd athlon xp 2100+ with a GeForce ti 4200 which I upgraded with a 3100+ 2 years later.

    And the rest...
    Athlon 64 3400+/GeForce gs 7800
    Phenom 9850/gtx 9800+
    Phenom2 1090t/gtx 275
    8350fx/GTX275 SLI/GTX680/GTX780
    And now... 5960x/gtx980/gtx980ti

Since 2009, cpu's haven't been going obsolete. I have friends who are running the 1090t even today paired with gtx960sli or gtx970 and it runs great. This will be even more true with Dx12, hence why I bought a 1000$ cpu, I figure that ill use this thing for a long long time.

DAYM, the list some of you guys have wow!

Here is my Humble contribution to this thread lol.

1st system- Fx 6100 ( Bulldozer ) (Faildozer) With Radeon 6570 DDR3! -Later on I went as far as to add another 6570 in Crossfire cause at the time I thought I was getting incredible performance out of my Gpu/set-up ie gaming on sub 720p resolution lol.But that didnt stop me!

    2) Changed my Gpu set-up as you guys will see soon....Went to a Sinlge Radeon 6870 /Faildozer.....Then crossfire Again 6870x2 not paying any attention to my monitor whatsoever! -720p.....

    3) Fx 6100 / Radeon 6970 Crossfire, finally upgraded to a 1080p monitor, Hmmmm I wonder how my old Radeon 6570s will do on this set-up shall we find out? Puts old cards in lucky to get 8-10 fps on 1080p! Lmao! Man was I an idiot.

    4) Fx 8350/ Got tired of the Radeon Cf bs- Got a single Gtx 580 EVGA.Still on 1080p.

    5) A10 6800k Apu with a Geforce Gtx 660 ti- Loved this little system!

    6) Fx 9370/ 660 ti- Rog crosshair formula z board

    7) Fx 6300/ Gtx 770 Refrence design.

    8) A10 7870k Apu-Intergrated graphics for now, kids machine. Fast little system 2400mhz ram 8 gb, All amd hardware ssd ect......

    9) Current system- i7 4790k- Got tired of Amd as you can tell, Gigabyte Z97x Gaming 7 board, Corsair H80 i cooler, Gtx 780 Sc- soon to be sli hopefully.

I might have missed a few Amd builds as I did so many Apu builds as well but honestly I forgot what the hell I did even yesterday just thought it would be funny to share this with you guys. Thanks Nz.

HD 4850 - was amazing after the upgrade
    HD 4870 - didn't feel much of a difference after the 4850
HD 4890 - jfc like a whole new level.
HD 6870 - i threw my 4890 away and i regretted that so much cuz the 6870 was slower..
HD 7870 - Finally i got the 6870 away it was like going from the 6200A to 4850.
R9 270 - i somehow convinced my retailer 1 month after i got it to swap it for a..
R9 280x - This is where i did the weirdest thing in my life, This Tri-X brand new 280X
was so wanted in bulgaria that i just traded it in for a galaxy S4... and THEN i traded
the galaxy s4 for a r9 290x, the one i am with currently. I got way too lucky on that one.

Only about 5% I have either broke or they died.

And this does not list laptops either. And I know I am forgetting things.
Ive even had 2 Ageia "Phyx" cards.
2 ASUS ones, on pci and one PCI E

Im in the middle of selling both of R9 290s for a Fury X or Fury.
    Even pondering a R9 380x 4GB Xfire.

Well, I see a lot of hardware from the same era, did you really upgrade from a i7 920 to 950? or did include all the pc of your business?
