Malwarebytes 3 is finally out. Malwarebytes is built to provide comprehensive protection against today’s threat landscape so that you can finally replace your traditional antivirus. Malwarebytes Anti-Malware and all "Malwarebytes" solutions (Anti-Exploit, Anti-Ransomware, Website Protection, and Remediation technologies) have been combined into one single application simply called "Malwarebytes". Note: If you have both an Anti-Malware and an Anti-Exploit subscription, they will upgrade you to a single subscription to Malwarebytes 3.0. It's the same one. You get free Anti-malware/Anti-spyware/Anti-rootkit protection and 14 days trial for the premium version which offer more features. I will update the thread. tnx
Not a fan of the new version, it acts like adware itself trying to promote the premium version with multiple popups, automatically enables the premium trial even though you installed only the free version, takes an age to disable modules too Original version was the best IMO, install > scan > uninstall > done
Hmm ... that's not encouraging to read. Slippery slope stuff. I was waiting for a new version because the previous versions took a long time to update and left a registry hive error in event log no matter what.
Give it a shot, I'm not seeing any registry hive errors in event viewer It just seems to be the trend with what used to be great simple and effective softwares, now loaded with bloat and advertising their premium alternative / crippling the free version to try force you to upgrade That said, it seems to be scanning fine, I remember the older versions being faster though, and that was on a mechanical HDD, this is SSD and taking quite a while
I gave up on Malwarebytes.... It's not what it used to be. I just do regular scans with EEK once a month. If you only have 1 computer, Emsisoft Anti-Malware or Emsisoft Internet Security are better options.
I'm still on Malwarebyte's Anti-Malware 1.75.0.1300 Free: same malware database as MBAB 2.x (guess 3.x also), much faster Quick Scan compared to 2.x, clean interface, does the same and finds/destroys the same crap as MBAB 2.x version... As addition to MBAM I'm using AdwCleaner... btw recently AdwCleaner was bought by Malwarebytes.
I was pissed off at MBAM v2.2.x on the AU of windows 10 that I installed ADWcleaner. A day later it was purchased by MB I've been running EMSIS soft's standalone cleaner since. It seems to be reputable and fast. No installation too, a big plus for me as I now prefer portable/no installation versions.
eh i still only use Malwarebytes once month to do scan that is it, I use to do the same with spybot S&D (pre 2.x build) but i dont even do scans with that anymore
Switch to Emsisoft Emergency Kit. It uses BitDefender's scan engine and detects stuff that Malwarebytes won't. Plus it doesn't require installation...
I have that on usb stick I have use when I get elected to fix things, but never actual used on pc hdd as replacement for malaware bytes. It does find things malwarebytes does not, same for spybot s&d
I have three lifetime licenses on three machines. I can tell you that 3.0.4 is buggy! On two of my machines, I have everything turned on and get flagged each time I boot up with parts of Malwarebytes are not turned on. Hit turn on and reboot...same issue. The powers at Malwarebytes.org are supposedly looking for a fix. Many people having this issue and various other ones...wait until it gets a clean bill of health...stay with 2.2.1 if you have it.
