So I just recently upgraded my 560ti to 580, and noticed that my FPS in Starcraft 2 hasn't changed at all :\ I figured it would've been a kind of big jump. Anyone have any idea why it isn't? My CPU is i5 2500k I have 4gb of ram my psu is a corsair TX850TM
2 old cards. What kind of upgrade is this tbh ? Don't expect miracles A 670 or 760 was a wiser choice.
Maybe he's on a budget, or just had the opportunity to step up. I think he'd know that those two cards would be better...
That's interesting as i noticed too in benchmarks when cards like a 560 a 570, 580 etc come out there's a big difference in fps at games of their time and 2-3 years later in new titles(or maybe in certain titles) the difference becomes so small that makes me wonder.
your cpu should be enough but OC it a bit, that newer old 580gtx gfx will help here with i7 920@ 4ghz http://www.hardwarecanucks.com/foru...tarcraft-ii-gpu-performance-comparison-6.html 580gtx in test but they used slower cpu here.. Although you would need 2 to max out and be above 60fps.. http://www.xbitlabs.com/articles/graphics/display/geforce-gtx-580-sli_9.html or here cpu charts http://www.legionhardware.com/articles_pages/starcraft_ii_wings_of_liberty_beta_performance,6.html http://www.legitreviews.com/intel-u...7-2600k-i5-2500k-i5-2400-i3-2100-cpus_1501/21 http://www.notebookcheck.net/StarCraft-II-Heart-of-the-Swarm-Benchmarked.89920.0.html
I got this card over the 670/680 because someone sold it to me for $90. If i overclock the cpu will i need to buy extra fans or something?
If I look at that that Russian review again stock 2500K gets min 64fps, now the question is where in ultra uber heavy fights or not. That said 4ghz should be doable if you have a custom cpu cooler, not stock intel.
When cards are too old, they will struggle in current tittles,no matter low, mid or high end they were. It is like when now you put modern mid-range gpus on 4K, all of them will struggle with 1-2 fps difference between them, if they are 100$ or 400$
It's because of how graphs depict the performance and how you look at them. The % in difference always stays the same, but the performance keeps getting lower and lower relative to newer cards. Kind of. The gap in performance remains the same, but it becomes less apparent over time.
