Where had you found it? There is no DDR/DDR2/DDR3 detection in the driver.

That's MSI's util, not NVIDIA generic one. As far as I can remember, I've peeked inside that tool some time ago to see how do they check memory type - there was simple SusbsytemID checking, so this tool can be easily fooled with any BIOS editor.

Repeating once again. That tool's DDR3 detection is based upon PCI SubvendorID checking. You can make it to detect DDR3 on _any_ display adapter with BIOS trick.

    how bout checking your clocks?
    if they're <1000 its ddr1
    if they're >1000 its ddr3

else another way would be to use nbitor to check your latencies with the hex editor.

    I haven't seen a 6800 that wasn't ddr3, I think you have a card that is ddr3.

like i said.. checking the clocks would be a good way to start.

the memory clock is not the right way to show the memory type because there is ddr3 and less than 1000 like nx6800gt (800 mem core) i am confused .......

overclock it to over 1ghz and see if it holds the clocks

Unwinder means that per default the bios reports ddr3 type of memory with the MSI-tool, so it can be easily tweaked by the manufacturer or by fault to report as ddr3. As far as I know only the GT and ultra are coming with high rated memory of GDDR3 capable of running clocks around 1 - 1,1 GHz. It´s just a character string in the bios which you can easily change.

    regards

    It's PCI-E, not PCI-X. They are 2 different things.
