    Hi,
I just build a backup PC, you know if my main one breaks or something happens to it and im waiting for GTX960 announcements if its too expensive for such build then at least the previous models go down in price, maybe ATI 280.

So for now ill be using this backup setup and i wonder if I should keep GT220 from my previous AMD backup system or use the build in HD4600.

For movies and maybe playing The Walking Dead games.

My main monitor is 2k and currently GT220 on AMD 4050e @ 3Ghz (LOL) 8GB DDR2 strugles to playback full HD movies in full HD resolution, in 2K its really choppy. in 1600x900 its fine.

    Here is my new spec:
    Gigabyte GA-H97-Gaming 3
    I5 4690
    16GB DDR3
System will be 8.1 on Samsung 840EVO 120GB (Or I hope the pre-release windows 10 comes tomorrow then ill install windows 10)

I would use the CPUs IGP.

Thanks, somehow i had a feeling that's what people would recommend me.

I tried to searched online but who would do a proper comparison for something so bizarre, so had to ask just in case.

    Thanks again

Sometimes i4600 is almost like 250GTS (9800GTX), that's if you're not using any MSAA.

I saw that in FEAR1 Multiplayer.

yep, i think it will hold for next month or so, hope 960 will be cheaper then 760 was. wish amd announced their next gen models with that new HBM 3D ram they going to use, will lower the price for everything older..

I actually tested the HD4600 in my i5 against a 9600GT and GTX 460 in the half life 2 lost cost stress test just out of curiosity.

1920x1080, settings turned up to maximum, 8xAA 16xAF.

    HD4600 30.95 fps

    9600GT 83.26 fps

    GTX 460 242.43 fps

So I'd say if you are using AA then the HD4600 is about the same as a 8600GT maybe even lower.

Basically, in my opinion, using integrated graphics is not an option for games.

Thing is there is zero optimization for the old stuff. Check a newer game

Well that's something that the OP will have to factor into their decision.

I know for me at least, good optimisation in older games is important as I still play games such as Half-Life and Age of Empires III fairly frequently.

If it's only temporary don't bother with it then and just use the HD4600. It will have lower power consumption if noting else.
