Agreed. Even the shift from 2133 to 2666 had a huge impact on performance for me... Both perceived performance and measurable (benchmark) performance.

    With DDR4-2133, I got a Firemark score of 7312..
    With DDR4-2666, I got a Firemark score of 10546..

Yes, my scores are a bit low. That's what happens when your system runs too much crap in the background.... I'm also still tweaking settings, new platform and all.

That difference in score is not even theoretically possible. Are you sure the only variable you have changed is RAM speed?

if the board was defaulting to bad timings on its 2133mhz strap its possible, once flashed bad ram timings to a ddr2 stick, system became unbootable, managed to get it to boot on a different system, and i could barely move the mouse cursor it was so slow, just barely enough to recover the stick. props to the nforce chipset for being able to run at all on those timings

Different frequency for the ram, and different memory timings. I have 2x8gb Corsair Vengeance DDR4-2666. Something is screwy with this motherboard. With the memory set to default (which is 2133 on this board for some reason vs 2074 on my Z170A Gaming Pro), the system was noticeably unresponsive, taking several minutes to even launch CPU-Z.

recently i had problems with any video on youtube or or media players crackling when ever there is network traffic with no apparent reason .... i was using zone alarm since 2004 mostly force of habit it was pestering me to update it like 3-4 months but i was telling it to remind me in 14 days ...everyday ...((i am not kidding )) anyway i updated it and thats when the problems started removing it fixed my problems magically ! but was breaking my head since ... it was not even on my mind that this might caused it i was thinking ...hell i use this program 13 years no way this is it !

Did you see Hilbert's benchmarks? Memory performance difference between 3200MHz and 3600MHz was unbelievable too.
And Hilbert gives us results of actual mesurements, not some made up fairy tales. And that's why we can trust those unbelievable numbers.

Awesome response to my questions and I am very grateful! I am running only one stick of ddr4 2400mhz ram and I have got it running at 2400mhz now and CPU at 3.6ghz. Performance is ok and got 10450 in fire strike but got 9500 with 7 yr old i7 860 and PNY XLR8 GTX1060 3gb but OC at 2000mhz core and 2200mhz memory which beat the RX580 by 500 points. Anyway I see a ton of stuff in my AMD folder in program files old and new all mixed up! I want to reinstall AMD gpu drivers but not sure best route. Scared of DDU cause I had a bad experince a while back! Can someone PLEASE tell me a good way to uninstall and update drivers for both gpu and chipset? Thanks SOOOOOO MUCH everyone!

Well I am going cry a little more!!!; I just tried to uninstall the AMD software and reinstall Crimson and chipset drivers! But as I was uninstalling the drivers I got the general error drivers not completely uninstalled?l!! Well restarted and reinstalled with clean option and no Re live but right after got a random reboot! It did restart ok and now going to run the chipset drivers installer I guess! Can't find much info on correct method or anything else! Argghhh! I am going to get back gaming one day hopefully! I am not a total nob just not use to these issues or AMD in general! Yipes!

Oh I'll check those out. Seems as if something is timing out at lower speeds.

For those who are interested in this info, but have no time or mood to do math:
    Code:
    			Read	Clock[%]	Read[%]
    i7-7700k + 2133MHz	31869	100 100
    i7-7700k + 3866MHz	51699	181.2 162.2

    R7-1800X + 2133MHz	34084	100 100
    R7-1800X + 3600MHz	56189	168.8 164.9
    = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = =
    			Write	Clock[%]	Write[%]
    i7-7700k + 2133MHz	31954	100 100
    i7-7700k + 3866MHz	47186	181.2 147.7

    R7-1800X + 2133MHz	32418	100 100
    R7-1800X + 3600MHz	53470	168.8 164.9
In simple words. With baseline memory clock 2133MHz, intel increases memory clock by 81.2% and gains 62.2% higher read + 47.7% higher write.
With same baseline 2133MHz, AMD increases memory clock by 68.8%, and gains 64.9% read + 64.9% write. (It is nearly linear gain.)
In applications for which memory performance is critical, AMD gives more for smaller payment for memory. But that memory performance is important for every application as it affects behavior of CPU itself.

Not really comparable as secondary and tertiary timings vary board to board, especially comparing different manufacturers.

You can definitely assume that ASUS ROG board will be better than a gigabyte UD3 board or something like that.

You must also take into account that latency can get to 30ns on Intel while the Ryzen is stuck in sub 70ns?

Could be a huge performance difference in latency sensitive applications

Example here for comparison on performance different of same speed.

Actually it is much more comparable than that image you posted. Please note that HH tests CPUs at stock clock. Does not go for best possible timing, stability is more important.
That approach creates baseline for what average person targeting such configuration gets.
Yes, we do not get to know actual timings for each results. But since AMD has troubles with it on Ryzen, we can presume that intel's timings there should give it advantage. And if Ryzen had same timings, its results would be only better.

Im never Unistalling anything in my AMD/ATI build :book:

Just after clean Win setup -> Install all Drivers:

1st -> MOBO ones from Mobo manufacturer WWW
    2nd -> Radeon Clean Install

Then always do an Update, not clean install.
    Sometimes its good to have:

    Command prompt (admin) then restart

    bcdedit -set loadoptions DISABLE_INTEGRITY_CHECKS
    bcdedit -set TESTSIGNING ON

To turn it on again, use these commands:

    bcdedit -set loadoptions ENABLE_INTEGRITY_CHECKS
    bcdedit -set TESTSIGNING OFF
