    What I have so far:

Intel Core i9-7900X Processor (coming in a fortnight)

    ASUS PRIME X299-A (here)

    Model F4-3200C16Q-16GRKD (here)

Noctua NH-D15 (here) but understand that it will be useless when running even at default settings with the I9 7900x chip.

My understanding is I could venture into the new and exciting world of "Delidding" or the established world of custom water loop.

My questioned is: which way should I go?

    HELP, all opinons appreciated.

Delidding should only be a consideration if you are willing to purchase another CPU to replace it when you damage it... delidding is risky!

Not sure what you plan on doing but the ND-H15 is not that bad... actually under some circumstances, it can be as good as a bad AIO.

That's an excellent option. My next consideration would be going with something by EKWB, but that would require spending a lot more money to pretty much no performance difference.

Yeah, waffling between that and a Thermaltake WATER 3.0. I like the kraken more because it is newer, thus better??? Very scientific, lol.

It is an option. Don't know as I would take it though. I would need to do a lot of homework prior to going there.

Ordered NZXT Kraken X62 All-in-One CPU Liquid Cooling System, Black (RL-KRX62-02), optimistic this will be all I need. Shooting for 4.7 across all cores.

My personal preference it to always avoid anything with the Thermaltake name if you want something of even halfway decent quality...

Been running across statements like yours. One of the reasons I went with kraken. Thanks for the response mate.

Up and runnin'. Had one big screw up. Rookie mistake. Thought my CM HAF-X being so big that the kraken would fit no problem. It would too if I modded the case, drill a few holes and such. Then you create metal shavings.... So put the nd15h in and so far so good. No oc yet though, but ran Fire Strike: 22533 and Time Spy 9993.

Got to study manual!! Overall pleased, firing on all cores.

Nice. Update your specs and throw in some benchmarks.
Do you have lotro or civ vi? Would like to know turn times and if it helps on lotro stuttering.
Or bf1. What resolution is your monitor?

Seems the biggest problem is windows 10!!! After 2 hrs on the phone with microsuck because I had to reactivate 10 on account of the major hardware shift, I got a new key. Now my start menus doesn't work and the whole os doesn't feel right. Gonna do a fresh reinstall. Major PITA!!
