By music creating you mean it has to have specific interfaces and I/O ports and you just mean sound quality?

I don't think soundcard has much to do with music production. Usually if you want to connect electronic musical instrument to PC, you use USB port. But I am not pro producer, so no idea :S

If you have specific audio setup in mind, please share. It would be helpful to give you direction.

    Electric guitar hookup via usb.
    Music keyboard via usb.
And my wife and daughters singing into a mic.

    Cheers.

Edit. My new motherboard will have Realtek ALC892 codec. Would that be sufficient?

Normally you use a USB Audio Interface to plug your guitar or micro into that.
Speakers are connected to that as well and the USB cable is plugged into your PC connected to any software via the ASIO driver.

In your software (Cockos Reaper is good) you just select ASIO driver and can record and play both at the same time via speakers.

So your soundcard doesnt get used at all.

    Example: https://www.thomann.de/gb/focusrite_scarlett_solo_2nd_gen.htm

There are special soundcards that have an interface from Creative though, but they'll cost more than a normal USB interface does.

It sucks. My motherboard has ALC892 too and Sound Blaster Z annihilates it sound quality wise.

As for guitar and microphone, that looks like right setup. But how does OP adds keyboard to that? Is connecting keyboard to PC and mixing signals with audio interface would be possible?

    Thanks for the replies.
My wife will be doing all instramants individually, and then stitch them together with FL Studio Producer Edition 12 software.
