YouTuber ResetLoad has made a comparison between the various graphical preset options. ResetLoad used a Core i7 Sandy Bridge @ 4.5ghz with an NVidia Geforce GTX 690 and 8gb Vengeance RAM. ... Crysis 3 - PC Graphics Comparison
Superb video that shows how great the CryEngine 3 looks even on Low settings. Impressive. I like also that the game supports multiple levels of FXAA, SMAA, TXAA and MSAA, surely a first for a PC game? In this day and age of lacklustre console ports we're lucky if we get a low-quality FXAA filter!
I see no distinct visual difference between low and very high. I think they need to be pushing our systems harder
Watching youtube is very different, no matter how sharp your vid is, youtube will make it blurry/ @speed weed, no we're actually playing the game not watching youtube.
If you look, on Low and Medium you can see details popping into view more than on High or Very High. Also, the shadows are not as good. Otherwise the difference between Low and Very High certainly isn't as huge and obvious as with other games. Tessellation and higher levels of ambient occlusion will be missing on lower settings too, although those are not always obvious in videos. The one thing lacking from that comparison are human and enemy character models which might have highlighted the differences more as they use tessellation (to round off what otherwise would be 'blocky' heads for example).
I was hoping to see some giblets flying around, after Psycho had made good use of the Typhoon! Mind you, those Spring flowers are really pretty, and all that heavy breathing added a little je ne sais quoi to the proceedings.
I'd say, runnig with ''medium'' settings would be... awesome... Just when I was worried about possible necessity of putting an GTX 6xx card into my rig...
Folks Crysis 3 has hints of photorealism, ..just getting that out there, it is indeed 'all that'. ok i admit i give it a 10/10 there i said it.
The difference between low and even ultra/very high is quite hard to tell really. Maybe this is because of youtubes stupid compression but still the beta was great and at ultra/very high did look awesome. I set everything to low with no AA and the only thing I could tell was that there was more jaggies and texture pop in. Set to low with 4xaa and hi res textures and it still looks great whilst keep a very playable frame rate (always over 60). I still say to this day that the best engine I have ever seen is the Dunia engine from Far Cry 2. Even better than Frostbite, Cryengine, etc (obviously we have yet to see Unreal 4 and the newer ones). It was the best because of the performance it chucked out and because of simply how massive the map was, no loading at all. It just impressed me the most, and I still want them to use it to make a proper corridor shooter I think the detail would be immense going from one large map to a small tight, dimly lite corridor shooter. Imagine going through an entire game like that with NO loading from start to finish!!!
There is a bigger difference in-game than what these videos show. I wish more people did the 50mb/s H264 60fps videos that Dice/Epic did for BF3 and UE4, YouTube even at 1080p just kills the quality. In my opinion it has taken the mantle from Metro2033 in that even on Low it's still a very good looking game, with most games Medium is console quality, so Low is usually horrible.
