Yes from a modded driver 344.11. Use display driver uninstaller DDU and remove all other ddriver stuff in safe mode, reboot and install the driver

After countless hours of researching and reinstalling drivers (only the 344.11 actually :p ) there is still "artifacting" on all of my games. so I decided to try and install 314.22 modified and I downloaded a ready .inf file (which was a ready gtx760 .inf file) from:

    pcabusers.org/forums/showthread.php?t=54887[/url]

Before installing the 314.22 I had 344.11 installed.
upon installing 314.22 i chose the option customized and ticked only the "graphics driver" and ticked "clean install". ( which I think would clear all nvidia related files prior to installation ) then on the process of installing the "red warning" appeared (which i read here is normal because of the modified .inf)

    then BSOD attacked.

so the computer restarted and let me choose normal or safe mode. so i went to safe mode and installed the driver still the "red warning" appeared But no BSOD.

when the system restarted everything went well.

My concern is. Will everything be ok? even with the BSOD?

Another thing. My PhysX Version is 9.14.0738 (-ish but im sure it's 9.14)
but the default for the 314.22 is 9.12.1031. Would it have any kind of conflict?

I've tried installing the driver again, but it says "a higher version is available no need to install" orrr it does not appear on the customized installation.

    sorry for the long explanation.
reply would be very much appreciated.
    thanks!

Hey fellas, recently joined the forums. Been a fan for years. I recently bought two gtx 980s but I still use a old gt 430 to bitstream to my htpc. Ever since I stated using the 344.16 whql drivers, my gt 430 stopped functioning. I hvae tried the forums moded inf guide but that was for nv_disp file and this driver has nv_dispe file. I copied the string value and os from the guide and pasted it in the 344.16 inf but the driver doesn't install. Could someone please upload a modded inf for 344.16 with gt 430 support for windows 8.1 please? Or at least tell me how to do it properly?

    Best regards

    Thanks for the guide!
So I modded a 297.03 Quadro driver for my GTX 660 Ti to see if there is a difference in input lag.
AND YES there is a huge difference, even at desktop the 297 performs lightyears better than any 300 series driver.

    Hi

I have problem when I install newest driver.

    Specs: Windows 8.1 Update 1 x64, 9800GT.

I want to install fresh nvidia drivers, I download (347.09-desktop-win8-win7-winvista-64bit-international-whql).

Because latest officially driver for 9800GT is 340.52, I edit nv_dispi.inf.

    My GPU Ids:
    Code:
    PCI\VEN_10DE&[B]DEV_0614[/B]&SUBSYS_83141043&REV_A2.

    I add:

    Code:
    [Strings]
DiskID1 = "NVIDIA Windows (64 bit) Driver Library Installation Disk 1"
    NVIDIA = "NVIDIA"
    NVIDIA_A = "NVIDIA"

    [B]NVIDIA_DEV.0614 = "NVIDIA GeForce 9800 GT  "[/B]
    And:

    Code:
    [NVIDIA_SetA_Devices.NTamd64.6.3]

    [B]%NVIDIA_DEV.0614% = Section002, PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_0614[/B]
    Pics: goo.gl / MUwCWR

First I clean old driver with DDU, and disable Driver Signature Enforcement.

And run Setup, install driver successfully but when I check GPU in Device Manager I see yellow exclamation point.

    Device status:

    Code:
Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems. (Code 43)

    Events:

    Code:
Driver Management has concluded the process to add Service nvlddmkm for Device Instance ID PCI

\VEN_10DE&DEV_0614&SUBSYS_83141043&REV_A2\4&1286464&0&0008 with the following status: 0.
    And:

    Code:
river Management concluded the process to install driver nv_dispi.inf_amd64_7b6f89d44f74b8ce\nv_dispi.inf for Device Instance ID PCI

\VEN_10DE&DEV_0614&SUBSYS_83141043&REV_A2\4&1286464&0&0008 with the following status: 0x0.

Please help, and sorry for my English.

If the driver was not able to install at first, then was able to install after you made the changes you describe then you did it right. This does nothing more then help get around the device check before installation.
That does not mean the driver offers proper support for your GPU. More then likely, this driver is simply too new to work on your GPU. Whatever the reason, your issue is not an INF issue, once you are able to get past the device check my work is done.

Hi . Can someone modd my inf file . I will give the information of my gpu and everything . I just bought a new laptop G771JM and Im stuck with 333.37 drivers . This ASUS laptop allows me to install drivers only from ASUS website . All drivers downloaded from Nvidia does not installs . Even when I try auto detect drivers ,Nvidia tells me to download from Manufacturer website ,but the driver is old ,my only chance to install newer drivers is to modd, but to do this I don't know how . Maybe someone here has some time to help me on this ?

Hi, I stumbled across this thread while googling a particular issue, and just want some clarification on what modifying inf's is generally used for?

I am having issues with SWTOR and frame skipping (related to the grass setting in-game), which, according to the SWTOR forums, is solved by rolling back to 327.23.

However, I have a 980, which is too new for that driver. Is that the sort of thing modifying the inf would be good for? Or is that a bad idea, and its generally used for Quadro drivers, laptop drivers, and using newer drivers that aren't supported by older cards (as opposed to older drivers on newer cards)?

Aside from things not working and perhaps some BSOD's requiring some driver re installation, is there any risk of actually physically damaging the cards doing this? I wouldn't want to brick my two shiny new 980's for the sake of one game, but, if risk free, would be up for at least trying this (I'm playing a lot of SWTOR at the mo).

I imagine things that are likely to damage a card (voltage, clock speed etc) are handled by the cards firmware rather than drivers, and the worse case scenarios is I will have to reinstall the newer drivers again?

    Thanks

Heres how to add tweaks to all drivers

To add the tweaks to all the drivers and not just the one for your card that way you can make universal mods and distribute the inf tweaks so other people you can use them you should add the tweaks to the:

    [nv_commonBase_addreg__01]

    [nv_commonBase_addreg__02]

subsections then they will be added to the registry no matter what card the inf is run with.

INF is a microsoft standard not an nvidia one and actually many drivers not just gpu have infs with available tweaks for you to google and implement(you should check every inf driver you install many should eventually be amalgamated into a general registry tweak you implement you after install and provides a sizable performance boost all your windows tweaks slapped in with one double click). Here is a post I made a year ago to help you understand the nvidia inf format. It constantly evolves and changes over time but this post will help you understand the current inf just realize changes will and do happen over time but once you understand the basic format concept it becomes very easy to see how it jumps through the subsections http://www.overclock.net/t/1384767/official-the-qnix-x-star-1440p-monitor-club/6390#post_20732523 or ths evga one http://forums.evga.com/Proper-Way-to-Enable-PCIE-30-via-Registry-m2101054.aspx.

No offense but 10 years ago inf tweaking was much more advanced than it is today and the new generation has renoobed as the information was not studied by it(there is no need for it to be passed down you need to learn to research). There are a couple posts on guru3d that will give you insight into the ultimate levels of inf..... and if you have research skills you will find them. You have been given enough hints.... the rest is up to you. Fail you will not know find and you will know don't ask me for any help.

You live in Daytona and your English is this bad? I know the south is slow, but I didn't think it was that bad. jk, but not really.
Lot's of people seem to have your sentiment though.
What I describe in the OP is what I understand to be the procedure for how you not only add a single card to an INF, but also every card. This is also what sites like LTV2G have been doing for like a decade now.
You suggest that you have a secret sauce that allows for every card to be bypassed with one "tweak", then proceed to say you won't tell anyone. Forgive me for being skeptical, but every modded driver I've seen adds the device ID's manually to each OS section and String section. From LTV2G, to tweak force, modded quadro drivers, leaked drivers, all the way back to Omega drivers.

The burden of proof is not on me.

I remember the good old days. Lv2go and guru3d were amazing for drivers, modded or not.

Not sure if it has been noticed before, but the GPU string of the GT645 is wrong. It's marked as a GTX645 instead. (NVIDIA_DEV.1207)
