So currently have 830 120gb in my personal PC, and Thinking of getting 2 850 evo 120gbs 1 for dads pc e8400 system i gave him and 1 for t7400 laptop, cause they would be cheap beneficial upgrades for both.

Now i thinking of taking on of the 850 evo and replace my 830 with it would i see much of difference between the 2 if i did that other then 850 evo can use rapidmode, my system atm can only do sata II but that will be fixed with my new build.

Seeing the laptop is probably SATA I it really would make much sense to use one of the evo drives in it.

850 Evo is one of the best SSD's i ever used. Give your dad 830 and get yourself 850. Take a look and compare :

honestly my 830 can do that too IF i had sata III connection, I ask more if i gona see difference speed on sata II from 830 ~ 850 I get 275-250 with sata II on the 830m not that i would see or feel a diffrence mostly wondering if would get me closer to the 300 limit of sata II

Outside of benchmarking I doubt you're going to notice any difference to be honest. You'd be better off looking into increasing capacity if you intend to upgrade to a more modern SSD.

more space would be nice, but still not worth it gb/cost wise atlest not to me yet. I might of payed 170$ for my 830 120gb and 850 evo 120gb can be bought for 69$ SDD is mostly for OS installs, most game are installed on my HDD still.

When i can get 500gb for under 80$ i will think about it till then not so much.

Once you have OS installed on SSD not mater what SATA issued you cant go back atlest i cant, I will never installed OS on HDD again. the speed difference is just mind blowing compared to the mechanical drives.

BTW the Rapid mode on Samsung magician does it require magician to be running to work. if so rapid mode not worth as i dont leave it open, nor would I

Rapid mode isnt working in W10, not until Samsung do something and release new version of magician.

I've never used it anyway and yes, it require magician to be running whole time.
