I thought 3rd part cards were supposedly cheaper than the MSRPs .... an ASUS STRIX 1080 goes for just under 1000$ usd and the 1070s are priced as a 1080??? what gives.. and will prices ever go down this year???

    Supply and Demand.

I am actually not sure if prices will ever reach declared $599 MSRP this year. Maybe around 800$... Knowing how many 1080/70 in market and in produciton might get the right price number.

980Ti prices are keep falling down. I actually considering getting 980Ti around 350-400$ if prices not gonna stabilize soon. (If they don't stabilize soon, they won't stabilize much later unless AMD brings killer card)

In my country it takes around 3 months before prices start to drop.
