    Hi everyone

    I have a dell inspiron 15 3520, it is the one that has an I3-2370M intel processor. I would like to know if the motherboard supports SATA III. The laptop comes with a 500GB mechanical drive that runs on SATA II. I'm planning to upgrade my laptop with a samsung 840 evo 120GB SATA III and I need to know if I will be able to take full advantage of the hard drive speed. I contacted dell's chat support and they told me that my laptop does not support solid state drives, but I don't believe them. I'd really appreciate your help on this matter. Does my laptop support solid state drives? and which SATA version does my laptop have?

    That NTB comes with Intel HM75 chipset,wich supports bothSATA2 and SATA3.
    Depends what Dell decided to enable or disable .

    @anticupidon, thank you man.

    I'd be cool if someone could tell me if my laptop has a SATA III port.

    You can find out in many ways if your NTB runs at SATA2 or 3.
    I think that SiSoft Sandra Lite can show you at what speed your hard drive runs at.(under motherboard/disk controller).
    If you have a SSD already,or someone can borrow it,connect it to the SATA port,boot from a live linux cd and runs this command as root.

    hdparm -tT /dev/sda

    If showed speed is above 300 MB/s ,your NTB has SATA3.
