The title says it all, games similar to Dear Esther. My friend loved that game and she was wondering if there were any other games similar to Dear Esther. She really liked the beautiful environments and the simple gameplay (there was none I think lol).

Yes, I did try Google before creating this thread. Only recommendations I found there were Myst 1-4, which I thought weren't simple games at all lol

There is actually, have a look at Proteus on Steam. Its looks like Minecraft but is like Dear Esther and has a good soundtrack too!

If she has access to PS3, then Journey ? The Game of the year2012 for Total Biscuit. Seems nice.

If she likes adventure games, perhaps The Longest Journey ? It does btw game gameplay.

    Never played or bought it.

I will buy it when it comes on special less 75%. I assume it will be worth the $2.50?

Yes, if you're the type that can appreciate a game purely from its environments (and narratives) alone and not the actions (which it has close to nil).
Its replay value is only to discover the different narratives that's triggered on certain locations to get a more complete understanding on what has happened.

Certainly not everyone's cup of tea.
    A bit like Dinner Date.

It's not expensive to buy, even now. Great narrative and pretty stuff to look at.

The second time I played though it, there is a ghost of a person standing at the top of the cliff. Narrative also changes a little.

To the Moon? It's got a 16-bit/early PS1 RPG game look to it but it's one of the more touching games I've played. It's similar to Dear Ester in that it's pretty much an interactive story.
