Wait for the GTX670 and OC it ;-)
GTX670 is plenty for that resolution.
Rest of the moneys spend on some <insert any random cool thing you got on your mind ;-)>

You could buy it but for your purposes I honestly think it would just amount to a massive waste of money considering I play at 1080p and get great performance out of my single GTX 480 still which can be had for 1/5 the cost.

Even at 1920x1080 Crossfire and SLI work wonders.

It really depends on the level of AA you use, and if you want supersampling to run at least 60 FPS, while maxing out your games' detail levels.

Thank's for the answers people ... I will probably buy a 680 ... 690 is a waste of money in that resolution .. and at the end if I buy a new monitor with higher resolution in the future I will put another one in SLI mode. After all 1.000 euro's ( that's the price here in Greece for 690 ) for a graphics card in a new pc built is commiting suicide ... we are in the middle of economic crisis here in Greece with wages dropping like hell and a very unstable political system .. for now I have a job .. anyway thank you all for your time.

not really a waste unless he had incredible high amounts of aa insane quality and texture mods, etc enabled.

Just in lineage2 or ffxi with the settings I am using with nvidia inspector now, over 1gb vram, and thoses games are old and still looks sharp with high insane aa settings is turned on.

I find it funny when people say 1 card is enough for that resolution while talking about 1080p, if you have a 120hz sometimes it isnt because you need to have 120fps at all times else you will experience visual slowdown. Can you run BF3 Ultra at 120fps with one 680 with minor fps slowdowns? Answer is... no you cant!

I agree with Krogthecrown and Blackzero. I can't even run Metro 2033 with everything max (4xMSAA included, not AAA) at 1920x1080 (I can barely run it at 1680x1050) with HD5870 crossfire. I guess that v-RAM 1GB is not enough to run this game with the max AA even at 1920x1080. I am now running my computer at 2560x1440. I suspect that 2GB v-RAM will not be enough to run Metro 2033 with everything max at this resolution. I would wait for either EVGA gtx680 4GB version or gtx685 (A.K.A. gtx780). If you want more power later, you can always add another one later. On the other hand when you need more v-RAM you need to replace the card with the one with more v-RAM. However if you don't need a lot of AA and play at p1080 only for 100% sure, then a single gtx680 2GB will do.

News is surfacing that 7950's can be unlocked to a full 7970. Worth a look in the bang of buck category if true.

Indeed. I play at 5760x1200, and no problems with VRAM whatsoever.

Well the 670 is like within 3% of the 680 and overclocked ones outperform a stock 680 - I think SLI 670 is the way to go if you want like 100+ fps in BF3 MP rather than 60+ fps from a single 680.

Buying GTX690 and run on single 24" 1920x1080 monitor is total waste. One GTX680 is more than enough.Metro 2033 or any other badly coded and unoptimized game (as Crysis 1 was) can not be a reason to waste money.

What on earth you are talking about?
120 fps or experience visual slowdown?

Could you be the owner of this banner :stewpid:

I'm talking about when i get less than 110fps i notice it with a 120hz monitor that's what. And about the banner... keep it, it fits you well.

I think it was pretty clear what he was referring to.

Just another reason why I think those smilies should be removed.

When you start cranking in nvidia inspector with maximum available AA insane quality, and all other goodies, even my gtx 590 at the speed on my profile, I can make even old games such as lineage2, run to its knees, a gtx 590 on lineage2 w/will over 1gb vram, think about it. Imagine skyrim on the same settings and texture mods = wont even budge. I know tera online with incredible insane aa settings inspector, game moves 1fps.

Did OP asked for 120Hz monitors? I must be blind, I couldn't see that.

You can run games from 1995 with loads of AA and still get slowdowns with the lastest graphics cards, fact is nobody runs with uber amounts of AA or is it required.

actually i do, like Cod for example and older games. usually run at least 32xQAA & 8x TSAA for easy games like blackops and for older games i max it out 64xAA/16xTSAA
