Anyone else had this problem that suddenly the driver appears to be still installed, but graphic card handles like no drivers are installed + nvidia installer can't find lastest driver version installed also can't uninstall it since files are missing? Physx also busted which is the only thing that is still uninstallable after that happens.

Happens with my GTX 970 driver version 344.75

I have double and tripple checked everything already i could think of.

    Plz help.

You have to right click each section and choose "Class" to highlight the ghosts before hitting remove

I did not know that thanks!

EDIT: just did what you told me and it worked! (removed over 100 ghosts) However, I still have some ghosted devices (ie mouse devices) that just refuses to be removed... i guess i should leave it at that right?

Are you running Windows 7 with KB3004394 installed? It's been pulled by Microsoft for causing, among other things, problems with video card driver installation.

Can't post links, so search Google News or other sites for specifics.

So what problems are there in having ghost devices, isn't it just hardware that was once connected but now are not ?

Yea, old drivers sitting about doing nothing waiting for you to connect that device again - not sure how much of a problem they cause, if any, but keeps the OCD guys happy - plus forces the system to install a new driver if the ghost one keeps getting used and is causing a problem when you connect that device

I had that update installed, but I uninstalled it without using the new update that kills it. maybe there was smthg left over by it. I downloaded now the new update and ran it in case it removes things whatever was left over by the broken patch. will report back if the problem is gone now or not.

yes, that is what i thought .
So as a example if you updated to a new Nvidia card (6xx>9xx) being they both use same very driver, nothing in this case to remove, even though hardware was changed, cause of unified driver .

I can see a lot of thumbdrives would show up in storage if you have many .

For the moment it seems that my computer keeps now the graphic card drivers(have to test some more to be sure), but now I have another problem with physx this time it seems in fluidmark the graphic card doesn't recognize it too be used by the program and clocks down to idle clocks even though it renders physx over the graphic card anyone knows how to fix that?

fluidmark starts at 140 fps and then drops to 16 fps because of idle clocks.
