Recommended gtx 580 OC ?

Hi,
im still new to this.. and what better than to ask you guys ?
well, im still trying to get in to this OC thing..

and I downloaded MSI afterburner, wich I assume is what the majority uses ? well anyway, on my GPU i have not yet started to fiddle with voltages, and im not sure on how far i could push the card, with stable results..

this is me atm



so any improvements, or anything i should know ? I appreciate your time

 

Well first you should increase your core without any voltage increase and see how far that goes ..test for stability with the Unigine benchmark. I'd start with 900 mhz. If that isn't stable with stock voltage increase your voltage one step and so on . What is your stock voltage anyway?

900mz is the avg. 3D oc
-set up a fan profile -fan tab.
-set up voltage to 1.1v
-make a 900mz profile
-test to see if it's stable
-checking temps ,use osd ,
-once a stable profile is found , under profiles Tab, you can link that to 3D ,so when you start a game it will auto oc to that profile
-I use profile 1 for default volt. speed and start that with windows , saves on temps in 2D.

do not stay at 1.1 if you do not need it, I would lower it 1 step in voltage and test with heaven 2.5 looping for a few hours and gaming. if it passes lower 1 step again and retest

 

hmm, I`ll defff try your advice later, right now im running it on 1.38 on 850MHz.. does that sound good as i try to test the other setting lateR ?

 

may be way too much, ever card is different. I need 1.113v for 875. you need to test. occt gpu test is good it scans for artifacts. run that a couple hrs too

 

okey, but how do i know if the voltage is to high/low by testing ? (stupid question? )

 

is occt up to date ? its still on directx10

 

how the hell did i get whle running occt that motherboard temp is over 100c??!!?? when the monitor i use through AI suite was showing 30 ?

 

you have occt 4.0.0? If it can be stable at 1.05v for example why run at 1.10v? got it?
less heat and less volts.
I run at 1.113v stable so there is 0 reason to run at 1.125-1.150v

I'm in the process of OCing my 580 myself and add 5 Mhz every 2 days

 

if it gets too hot too quick i need to turn down the voltage in other words ?

no, you only want to use the LOWEST stable voltage on your gpu. using more volts than your card needs will just add extra heat to your gpu and may degrade your gpu over time. think you need to read some oc guides before arbitralily upping your volts for no reason at all

 

This is an error that occurs when using HWmonitor while AI Suite is also open.
