MSI RX480 GAMING X 8GB New installation UPDATE RX 480 changed to R9 Fury Nitro

    Hi Guys,

I have just bought a new Msi Rx480 gaming X 8GB and i need some help to do a clean instalation.

I have currently installed a nvidia evga gtx 670 ftw with all the drivers, pyshicx, precisionX,etc, etc.

I have allready download the DDU to clean all the nvidia drivers.

Also i have downloaded the newest 16.8.2 drivers to PC because i dont have a dvd drive, should i download any other software for this rx480,like afterburner from msi, etc, etc?

Should i DDU all the nvidia drivers with the 670 still installed,is there any problem that might occur?

Can you please guide me trought the correct installation because it is a nvidia to amd and i dont want conflicts with files and drivers.

Thanks for all the help and advice you can give me.

There is also physx, 3d vision, nvidia experience and stuff like that, remove it all before using a ddu.

Of couse. Nothing to worry, just unistall all of that and then use ddu in safe mode. After that just replace the video card and install amd drivers.

Let us know how it went when your done. :)

Installing a driver 16.8.2 check everything besides amd gaming evolved app. When your done install MSI Afterburner for monitoring and fan control.

    Rest is up to you.

You dont need gaming evolved app. You can uncheck that when installing drivers.

    sort of.

its crowd sourced game settings rather than AMD set.

There's a bunch of social features, twitch integration, and prize giveaways.

It isnt very resource heavy, so if you want try it out.

You can always uninstall it later if it bothers you.

Fury Pro was the same price as rx480? Damn. It dropped the price quite a lot.

    Anyway, good choice. :p

Yep here in Portugal the MSI RX480 gaming X was 319€ and i changed my order to the Sapphire R9 Fury Nitro for the exact same price,i dont have any problems with consuming more or less power and i game at 1440p and have a 144hz monitor with freesync so i think i will be better served, what do you think?

Fury cards have alot more brute power, it will serve you better at 1440p despite having a less Vram.

    Great upgrade from your gtx670.

Thanks undying, yep i have read about it last friday and i think that the 4GB on the fury because it is HBM is diferent from GDDR5 and will not notice it even on the most demaning games, this offcourse after watching alot of benchmarks.

I normaly upgrade every 4 years and this is the year of change and changed from nvidia to amd in a long time, one thing from nvidia on this last build never had any problems with stability or driver problems, hope i dont get into a minefield now lol

The cpu because it is at 4.4Ghz i dont think it will bottleneck for now and also i will wait for the next gen from AMD lets see if the zen is anygood.

My advise? Check it first then decide.

I have win in Raptr so many Games, one of them was StarCitizen with AMD Radeon Exclusive ship + Hangar worth 60 bucks

Its great app IMO (Yes i was using it before Game evolved program to track my Gaming)
