Im buying an H100i for pretty cheap in a week or two, but looking at the instructions for fitting it to an AMD board, it says to use the stock AMD backplate - I don't have one because I've had an aftermarket cooler installed for years that uses it's own backplate Am I going to need to find a stock plastic AMD backplate before I can fit the cooler or does it come with something I can use instead? Looks like the only backplates it comes with are for Intel, which seems a bit backwards of Corsair assuming that everyone AMD is coming from a stock cooler
You need to use the stock backplate and the hold down brackets. The only reason it includes a backplate for intel, is because no intel boards use one.
A moment of genius and my habit of never throwing anything out told me to hunt the back of the cupboard for my old motherboard box, and I found these Apart from the screws, is there any other parts missing? I haven't used stock for so long I can't remember EDIT - Ha, I even found the screws, see kids, this is why you never listen to the missus when she nags you to throw stuff out that you might need later
No. That's everything. Here's an install video. It's pretty straight forward. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wdnt4-3njk0
Cool nice one cheers, bookmarked for the install day Looking forward to putting it under water, I was hitting 64c today using ConvertXtoDVD Been a good little cooler this Tuniq, but it has finally met it's match with this mini reactor
Post some results when you get it installed. Hold up....what kind of case are you installing that H100i in?
Coolermaster HAF922 All done - although the screwholes in the top didn't match the radiator for some obscure reason, so it's only held on with the first 4 on the right fan side - seems strong enough as long as I don't bang it around
