The Titan or Titanium as perhaps it will be called will be a one off, in my eyes it's basically a FU AMD card with around the power of x2 680s. If the 780 is indeed released in say 6 months i don't suppose it'll be faster than the Titan. However if supply is good and everyone that wants a Titan gets one then there's a chance the 780 could be faster seeing as everyone on the block will be rocking one of these with the 780 having very little attraction compared to it.
But sure how much are they gonna be and how difficult are they gonna be to find? OK in the uk i can see online retailers having these at around £750 -a nice 4gb 680 will still set you back around £450 - £500

Consoles getting blamed for Nvidia’s naming scheme now, people seriously don’t activate their brain before posting nowadays.

SLI-756, that is exactly how I see this “Titan” card too, releasing it as a little extra kick to AMD.

Likely it will be a limited run card with a pricetag like you said of around $900-1000 (£7-800) , and that will probably be increased even more by retailers when stock levels drop.

The whole thing still gives me a 8800 series feel, as in a super high end expensive card that will likely be faster than future cards for a couple of years.
Did it not take 2 years for the 8800 Ultra to be beaten, and even then it wasn’t by a large amount.

I'm really looking forward to this card and think it's time to upgrade my GTX480 but I'm pretty sure everyone is underestimating the price. In the UK, the GTX690 is ~£800 and I can't see any way that Titan will be cheaper.

Expect it to cost a whole bag o'sand, then if it turns out to be cheaper, happy days! :)

That all depends on whether it really is faster than a 690.

I know what you mean though, Nvidia aren't going to compete against themselves, so if this is twice the speed of a 680, it will be twice the price.

Yeah good point that is assuming the rumours are true and after thinking about it I am sceptical on that :)

Doing a really rough estimate, taking memory bandwidth out of the equation for a second, the Titan (rumoured) has 1.75X more processors than a GTX680.

If the Titan runs at the same clocks as GTX680, that would mean it was roughly capable of 1.75X the speed of a 680.

I think it's fair to say that at high res (1440) when the gpu is the bottleneck, the 690 is roughly ~ 1.75x faster than a 680.

Lets be generous and give the Titan another 10% because of the memory bandwidth, that means it would need to be clocked at over 900mhz in order to beat the 690. Is that possible? I really hope so! :)

Surely you'll gain very little, if anything going from 2 680s? Or did you mean you will buy 2 Titans? :eyebrows:

Not really sure how the writer of this has come to this conclusion.
Is it based on some information that I’ve missed, or some random theory that he came up with while on the crapper?

While it’s entirely possible that Nvidia have timed this to arrive at the same time as the PS4 announcement to show there is still life in PC gaming, it’s just as possible it’s just a co-incidence.
It's also quite disrespectful to AMD to dismiss them as no challenge to Nvidia in the PC market.

Also, things like saying people should be comparing a $300 console to a $300 GPU and not a $1000 PC when this GPU is likely to be $900 on it's own seems like a massive contradiction.

Unless of course he has some information that this will be a $300 GPU, followed by 680's at $150-200 etc....which would be great news for everyone except present GK104 owners, but can anyone really see that happening??

You can't compare a $300-400 gaming console to a graphics card.... If you have a $300 E-machine.....that $300 graphics card won't perform any better than a $100 graphic card. I generally respect what TPU posts....but that article is plain absurd... Gaming systems cost....you can't just buy the cheapest Emachine, HP or Compaq on the shelf, through in a $300 graphics card and get a better experience than on a console. The performance of the system will be abysmal and with it, the overall experience. Showing people an $800+ GPU isn't going to get them to ditch their $300-400 console.....it's going to make people run towards consoles with nightmares of how much PC gaming costs....

No point going from 2x680s to a Titan.
If your gonna do it right then you gotta get 2x Titans both at same time:)

I'm pretty sure i'll have to bow out of this one, but for everyone that gets one i wish you fellas all the best, if i need more power i'll end up with another 680.
tbh i can't afford one right now, though if i did have the funds i wouldn't think twice about one of these.
if they were around £600 it may be different, but i believe it'll be more like £750 unfortunately.

Already have the funds setup to SLI this card. Just hoping it's better than the 780 GTX that people are saying will come out in june.

Still waiting on concrete evidence of this Nvidia Titan. Can only hope it's real, and that Hilbert can fill us in....eventually.

The Titan you cited is the project called Titan using the Nvidia NVIDIA Tesla K20 GPU. That, has nothing to do with the rumored consumer GPU using the name Titan.
