Very impressive, you'd be forgiven for thinking a lot of that was actual video footage

That looks absolutely awesome! Maybe in the next 10 - 15 years we'll get PC games that look as good as this.

Id say sooner than that, next 5 years or sooner

Well you never know but I really doubt it. I don't think we'll see this level of detail in games until the PS5/next xbox surface. I hope to be proven wrong though.

Some of the playable UE4 demos are pretty fantastic looking atm, if they can make demos like that, they can make games like that, Id say 5 years is well long enough to massively improve on them too

Look at games from 5 years ago vs today

I agree - if you look at the unreal engine 4 rendering demo, it doesnt look far off from this... it will depend on how far game makers decides to take it - if some choose to go the crysis route, then we might see it graphics like this in games in 2 years time.

Haha well maybe I'm just being pessimistic. :)

Just with all the focus on consoles and PC usually being an afterthought I can't see this tech getting used in any games (at this detail level) until consoles can run it at an acceptable rate (let's be honest - PS4/Xbone have no chance).

Sure if someone decides to develop a game exclusively for PC we could see it in the next 5 years, maybe. As for UE4, yeah it looks pretty good in some of the vids I've seen but it's not on the same level as this IMHO.

pretty certain there will be a WD texture pack that gives this same effect....

I'm not sure you guys are looking closely enough at that demo. It's quite impressive and there is a lot going on there. Pay attention to the physics/mechanics of things and look at the accuracy of reflection and shadows. I think the estimate of 10 years is probably closer to correct than 5 and I doubt the next generation of consoles will be anywhere close to this. Also, notice how well the video is actually rendered - it's incredibly smooth both in movement and transition.

So, let me get this straight. If this is not pre-rendered, and is running in real-time, why the heck must it be 5-10 years away?

These graphics would easily be capable given optimization on a couple of titan blacks. Will be 5-10 years for graphics to be running on mid range single cards.

    So it is pre-rendered?

Dunno, could be running real time on quad titans..

They claim that its real time rendered, and honestly, its not more impressive graphics than i could easily believe that :)

I meant before we actually get games that look that good. If we throw enough hardware at select engines now it may be possible today. If that video is real-time on consumer hardware now then I'm thoroughly impressed.
