So i made a thread some month ago that my 290 was always getting really hot. I made a lot of change to help this card, i bought a phanteks enthoo tempered Glass, two corsair fan extrême performance ( and a new motherboad on am4 ( and a ryzen and ddr4 but this is another story haha ) to put my soundcard more away from the GPU to get a better air cooling). So Yesterday , i put on the computer , and after 30s on the movie i was watching , i got a lot of artefact and my computer shut down. I tried another movie , same. I launch à game to check my computer and at the boot screen of the game, the.gpu just died haha Now it's like this : https://youtu.be/-ocEBUbalFA I can't even go to windows , i had to install my old 6950. Do you think the GPU Can be repair ? ( I m going to wait Vega 56 i think )
Take all the cooler off and any stickers heat an oven to 200c .. place the card on a baking tray with tin foil using bits of foil to make 4 balls to raise the card of the tray,, leave in for 10 mins then take out and let the card cool at room temps for like 30 mins, you'll need some decent thermal paste too .. rebuild the card and I bet it works again
By any chance are you water cooling? I had almost exactly the same experience when I forgot to plug my pump in. The PC ran fine all evening just browsing the web and was left on all night. Next day I played a movie and the PC blue screened after about 15 minutes. Tried again and it crashed sooner. Thats when I had my dur moment and realised the CPU was a bit warm. Shutting your PC down for while to change cards may have let it cool enough to get basic function back.
Thanks you, i m going to try that when i have time! It's air cooling for the cpu , i have a 1600x with a be quiet pure rock. The temp was always good on this CPU . But before the first crash i got a message from AMD that wattman reset my oc setting because there IS an issue but i didn't oc the GPU haha Haha yeah , it's a good excuse to change GPU haha

Yeah i saw this when i was looking for it. I m not going to bake it. I m going to try some others solution. I m going to check to repair it and giving it to my brother since he only have a 7870xt. I bought a 1080 ti since i didn't really like the Vega GPU.
