Windows 10 + Edge = freeze PC when Afterburner starts

Hi,

I've encountered a strange phenomen today.

I've been using MSI Afterburner build 4.1.1 for a while now on Windows 10, sometimes it happened that my computer crashed when i started Afterburner.

Today i was able to reproduce this error.
Running Windows 10 64bit tech preview build 10158, Edge build 20.10158.0.0 that came preinstalled in this build and listening to this playlist on youtube (HTML5 web player).

The Error happens when you start Edge and then start MSI Afterburner. The Computer Freezes and makes a huge (constant) buzzing noise. The Powerbuttons do not work, the reset button on the mainboard does also not work. Only way to stop is to unplug the computer.

it does NOT happen if you start MSI Afterburner first and THEN start Edge.


i'm fully aware that Windows 10 is not a supported platform yet, and i don't expect any fixes, as this problem is kinda easy to avoid, i'm only wondering.... WTF have they done with Edge that could possibly conflict with MSI Afterburner Startup routines? ....

Can making a profile for EDGE in RTSS and setting detection to none help?

 

I suspect unwinder has a fair amount of work cut out for himself when he makes afterburner win 10 ready and can't really blame him for waiting for rtm. I had to quit using it for a bit myself and be glad when the win 10 version is ready.

 

if i am using chrome and playing some videos(dai*******n the day i tested this) and then i open afterburner i get a hard crash freeze on my pc also.

i get all the sound crash also but my reset button does work.

 

I'm getting the same thing with watching a Youtube video in Firefox and then opening Afterburner. Complete freeze with buzzing noise, but I can use the reset button.

 

i hope this is fixed on the new afterburner <3

Maybe not start Afterburner while a process is actively using the GPU?
