It's not light at least to me. I would love to get a HGL30 and move my cpu, ram and hd over to it.

Performance in games is OK. In NFS:MW I have to turn off car reflections.

I LOVE the WXGA with truelife. I get laughed at over at notebookforums.com for insisting on a low-res reflective screen. arrogant bastards :D
I don't like that it does not have a pc card slot, only an express card
No superg or pre-n wireless except usb.
Get the upgraded battery if you plan on using it on battery very often. Mine only lasts ~2 hours
I really like the front mounted media buttons. I use them all the time.
I really like the keyboard..very solid. I don't bother to use anything else when gaming.

You will be happy with your purchase, I love my E1505, great laptop, the X1400 video card will play games quite nicely at Medium settings....with Half Life 2 Episode1 I can play at High setting and it runs smooth as silk, FEAR at medium settings I get an averege of 43 FPS, and Quake 4 will run great at Medium settings as well.... Its a great investment...

    Specs : E1505 T2400 1.83 Dual Core
    WSXGA+ True Life Ultra Sharp
    X1400 256Mb
    2Gig DDR2 667
    80Gig Hd 5400
    3945 Wireless
    8XDVDR+/-R Dual Sony
:toke: Final Cost- Free!!!! (Warranty replacement for Dead 3Yr Old 8600 Inspiron)

I ended up getting an Acer 5672WLmi

    Specs:

    Core duo 2300 1.66ghz
    X1400 512mb hypermemory
    2gb DDR2
    120Gig HD 5400
    802.11a/b/g wireless LAN + Bluetooth
    DVDR+/- Dual layer

What I don't like about this is I am not able to download new mobility drivers straight from ATI site. When I run the wizard it says it's not supported, so I am stuck with old ones. If anyone knows how I can get the latest catalyst drivers to work on my notebook, please help me. Thanks.

You can always find the latest Catalyst Mobility drivers without the vendor check here.

Funny that you started this thread because this is what I just ordered on monday and is being delivered tommorow.

    -Inspiron E1505, Intel Core Duoprocessor T2050 (2MB/1.60GHz/533MHz) -15.4 Inch TrueLife Wide-screenWXGA
-512MB, DDR2, 533MHz 1 Dimm for Inspiron 6400/E1505 (ordered another 512 off newegg for alot cheaper)
-Intel Integrated Graphics Media Accelerator 950 GM(I don't plan to game at all on this machine, that's why I have my desktop)
-60GB 5400RPM SATA Hard Drive for Inspiron 6400/E1505
    -24X Combo CD-RW/DVD for Inspiron 6400/E1505
-Dell Wireless 1390 802.11b/g Mini Card (54Mbps), for Inspiron 6400/E1505
-53 WHr 6-cell Lithium Ion Primary Battery, for Inspiron 6400/E1505

    Final cost = $529.99 ($629.99 - $100 coupon code)

I was originally going to go for the x1300 or x1400 but I realized it was pointless because a) I'll never be gaming on this machine besides maybe some Diablo 2, Final Fantasy 7, or something and b) Integrated graphics will increase my battery length.

I think I did pretty well. Basically for $550.00 I get a dual core laptop with a gig of ram plus everything else I need. It's going to be used primarily as a work computer, maybe a little photoshop and paintshop, and music and movies from time to time. I'm not saying my desktop is the best thing out there, but when I want to game, I use that. This is something I needed for a long time to help out with my career in I.T./desktop publishing/graphic design.

I would highly recommend getting a 9 cell battery..cheaper off ebay..with the gma it will get you as much as 5 hrs life.

    Mine is:

    E1505
    T2500 Core Duo 2ghz (came with a T2300, got a free 2500 from Intel)
    1gb DDR2-667 dual-channel
    X1400
80gb 7200 rpm seagate NCQ (came with 5400rpm, another freebee from Intel)
DVD-burner (it was free upgrade, I'll never use it)
I paid $932 on the day they released the dedicated graphics.

    I have a MX310 I carry with it and 80gb external 2.5" hard drive.
