Know this will void warranty. Can I upgrade the vid card in my E1705, Bios A01, from the 7800 (has 0ne heat pipe/sink) to a 7900GS or GTX with two pipes? Will bios recognize it? and would removal of one of the heatpipe/sink hurt the performance of the newer card, besides maybe a heat issue? Why would I want to remove one of the pipes/sink? because my chipset and cpu have their own pipe/sink, where the second pipe on the vid card would go. thanks

I think you can. There is a lot of information there, I only skimmed over the info (cause I don't do 17" laptops) so I don't know details.

Thanks! Found what I was looking for. No need to remove anything from video card. Only need to remove a couple of tabs near the CPU heatsink, and it drops right in. Picking up GTX tomorrow, along with an XPS 130 watt AC adaptor. Need the upgrade adaptor to run the card at full power, the stock adaptor will not do it.
