UL, a global safety science leader, today announced the acquisition of Futuremark, the market leading provider of performance benchmarking software.

Futuremark, a privately held company based in Finland, develops the world’s most widely used benchmarks for desktop computers, notebooks, tablets and smart phones.

The acquisition marks UL’s entry into the software development industry, a strategic imperative for the company to help meet the growing demand for performance data.

I really don't see what Underwriters Labs has to do with Futuremark. Makes no sense in my mind whatsoever...

Just as long as they keep producing great benchmarks I really don't care who owns what.

As far as I can see Facebook haven't done any damage to Oculus, I've yet to see any facebook adds popup on my rift :)

Because the Consumer Version is not out yet, they're not gonna cripple a dev kit with ads and privacy invasion and social media crap - but almost guaranteed the CV will be

You're just speculating you have no idea what the consumer version of the rift will be like, I'm not saying I was happy about the Facebook buyout but it doesn't stop me from enjoying the rift, and as long as Futuremark carry on making great benchmarks I'll be just as happy running their software, it's easy to be negative about this stuff but life's too short :)
