Hi all. I ordered cosmos copper heatsinks to play on the vram and vrm of my 1080, which I will use with the kraken g10. Can anyone highlight the location of the vrm on the board for me? Thanks. Here is a picture of the pcb from a site.
Red is VRM Blue are inductors which are sometimes cooled depending on manufacturer. I would put heatsinks on them. Unsure if the chips between memory and the inductors would be cooled, probably not but it would be best to see where the stock cooler makes contact with installed thermal pads. Pic below Spoiler
My guess is those are the vrm's. But just to be sure does it say in the specs that the card has 5+1? Because if it does than that's what you gotta cool.
thanks to you both. I did find a picture online of a guy the cooled the small black rectangle to the left of the highlighted red region, see here: Why did he do this?
Those small black rectangles left of the inductors are capacitors. They do not need to be cooled. He did it because he doesn't know.
I forgot to ask, should the heatsinks touch the entire highlighted column, or is it sufficient to just be on those black squares
I have been in contact with EVGA about this matter as I am putting heatsink on simular card as well. They told med the big silver componensts and the small rectangular ones left to them . Nothing about the small squares on the right.
