IF you want to cripple your video card you can try this awesome tool. Make a DSR resolution of any multiple up to 40x. Running an old PS1 emulator at 12k was an interesting test ! The links are there. http://www.microsofttranslator.com/bv.aspx?from=&to=en&a=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.forum-3dcenter.org%2Fvbulletin%2Fshowthread.php%3Fp%3D10655298%23post10655298
Yes, if you notice on the spreadsheet on the AA thread. I have produced a link/guide myself to this. https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1ekUZsK2YXgd5XjjH1M7QkHIQgKO_i4bHCUdPeAd6OCo/pub?output=html
Oh ok, thanks ! I had to search hi and low for this tool. Seems not too many know about it. A great way to lock yout pc up is to try running anything at 12k. Ps1 emulators can do it but that is about it !
Excellent guide, MrBonk I have now also added this to my thread (under "Background information and tools"): http://forums.guru3d.com/showpost.php?p=4908843&postcount=1
The values are a percentage value relative to your native resolution. 4.00x is 400% (2x2) 3.89x is 389%, 16.00x is 1600% (4x4) I don't know why you are trying to mix GeDoSaTo with DSR , they are different things..
Ok, If anyone still using this program, I need some help here: The custom resolution seems to work but only the first set of numbers work, for instance: If go to 5k for example, First set of numbers are right: 5120 but the other # is always stuck @ 2400 Thus 5120X2400, no matter how high I jack the slider, first number is correct, the second set of numbers are stuck like royal hell on 2400. I am using the old version of the program which works with all nvidia drivers, the newest revision only works with certain drivers. I remember awhile back I have gotten this program to work.
I use only the new version (Which works just fine on 378.66). And haven't had an issue in a while. You should try using the new one. Or PM Orbmu2k.
works fine without any issue on driver (378.77) ,Custom DSR Tool 1.1 R364.47+ can crank up to 16.00x (10240x4320) on 21:9 ultrawide. are you trying to reset DSR on NVCP ? check this guide http://forums.guru3d.com/showpost.php?p=5121671&postcount=3088
DSR and GPU upscaling do not use bilinear processing so you would not be able to get blur-free 1080p on a 4K display no matter what, until we are given the choice to choose the algorithm used. Blur-free 1080p on a 4K display means that every pixel at 1080p is displayed over 2x2 pixels at 4K, and this needs bilinear processing, not the more complex algorithms currently in use.
Current upscaling uses box/linear already AFIK. What he's looking for I think is integer scaling. (Which is point sampling) Ex http://www.screenshotcomparison.com/comparison/203848 FWIW too, I tried hacking the registry entries to use a sub native ratio with DSR once, it didn't work properly sadly enough. (Because 0% smoothness is equivalent to point sampling)
Its there an updated Custom DSR Tool that works with modern 4** drivers? Wanna have 8K on 1080p screen for some personal reasons.
