Guys, I am ripping DVDs using various softwares and I hear that it is possible to use the GPUs (rather than the CPUs) to rip. My graphic card is an XFX 5970X2 Black Edition, and at the moment, it's using the CPUs to rip (because MSIAfterburner indicates that my GPUs aren't working during this process). What do I need to do to use my GPUs instead of CPUs to rip ? Thank you Jean.
The ripping will probably always be done by your CPU as it's not too demanding... but the transcoding is where you need the cycles. You'll need to find a gpu compute friendly (opencl or the like) encoder. I think Handbrake has been working on this a bit as well as many others - https://trac.handbrake.fr/wiki/GPUAcceleration http://www.sonycreativesoftware.com/vegaspro/features?lang=FRA http://www.freemake.com/blog/cuda-dxva-easily-explained/ not sure if this is still accurate - http://support.amd.com/en-us/kb-art...oConvertVideoUsingtheAvivo**************.aspx
yes the decoding can be done with the gpu . If you go into the amd CCC and then video at the bottom of the list is accelerated video conversion .
