Well i had some case fans that died and were not working keeping my pc cooler so i ordered some up but i figured if i order so much and get 0% interest for 6 months and no payments for six months will help me pay it off in the long run. So i bought this:

Its been 5 years since i bought my 5850 so i was do.

Not a bad choice coming from an 5850. What resolution are you gaming at?

That card may very well suit that resolution if you want to crank everything up. You will definitely be gaming a lot better now. So when's it set to arrive?

Yeah 290 would be a much better choice.

Not really (you would have higher max FPS but would would be stuck only seeing 60Hz). What is the maximum resolution of your lcd tv?

Dont forget he could use VSR to increase rendered resolution ;)

True. Though I think this was a good upgrade for him plus Tonga has the improved tessellation support.

Fury I can sort of understand as lowest I saw it costing 540€ vs 617€ fury x and 663€ 980 ti. At these price points they all fit their respective performance ranges.. But really those are rather expensive picks. With 1680x1050 resolution pointless beyond belief. And so getting something like 380 is a great thing or even 290/390.

There are some amazing deals around on the 290X I've been hearing lately. Owning a 290 card will allow closer to max settings for longer and less slowdowns. But you know you budget and what your semi near future holds better than any of us.

IF you were to somehow end up getting a 290(X) make Sure to get a model with a bigger cooler design.
    - I find my MSI Gaming 290X overheats and thermal throttles down from 1,030MHz to about 850 - 960MHz on demanding games even in a case with really good airflow!

About seriously considering selling it and trading up to a Fury Pro Mostly for a good enough cooling solution (ok and the extra speed doesn't hurt too much either ;) )

Try tighten the cooler screws. My msi gaming 290x was throttling I tightened the cooler screws (somehow became bit loose) temps went down and never went past 85. Then this happened again and I decided to change the TIM at the sametime now it does not go over 85 on 1100/1350.

Thats why i got the 4gig card over 2gig card. Plus i had just to spend $250 for fans and card for free shipping. I was on a tight budget and new the 380 had alot longer future then my 5850 was going to have with games like doom 4 coming out next year.

    Cool tip thanks Ryu5uzaku :D

My last card had similar problems, but was more obvious with higher temps (they later revised the HS due to being a common issue) and a massive cooler : Asus 7950 CUII TOP

Just figured the much smaller MSI Twin Frozr was too compact and not up to the job in demanding games like Star Citizen.
It's actually fine in most games especially with VSync on so it is not trying to render 90fps in easier games on my 60Hz panel.

Will give the tightening etc a try in the next few days when I have a moment spare. Could really save me a semi sidegrade until the Interesting cards arrive next year ^_^

    Will report back.

You got that right. I can remember upgrading from my 5850 to a 7950 @ 1GHz, was a Very Nice upgrade. The 380 is somewhat faster again, you are going to be Pretty Happy with that :D

380 is a nice card, we can say best at that price range. Definitely good upgrade over you 5850.

You should probably update your profile details. ;)
