Yes that is normal. The boost clock is the minimum boost you should attain above the base clock. You can boost higher as long as temps and power are under the Boost 2.0 limits.

Sup folks, been awhile since i posted here.
My 7970 after 3years or so was acting up, decided to upgrade, and went back to green team.

Picked up a MSI 980ti Lightning Ed.
Ill be doing a CPU upgrade/etc later maybe next year, the scores look alright so far...aside from my Physics scores...(No HT enabled, i was trying to isolate an issue on my 7970, but ruled it out, didnt enable it).

Max temp was 70C, dead silent, coming from a 7970 gigabyte 3 fans (which was so freaking loud)

    GPU 1450 (Max)
    Mem 3549 (Max)

Considering i am still on a 2600k...i guess its not bad yea?

    same here.

but problem is that you also have to have exhaust fans that can exhaust the heat really fast.

and sometimes one exhaust wont cut it.

also found out. its bad idea to have side fan exhaust because it sucks the air intake away from the gpu causing it get really hot.

    I have 3 in and 3 out.

The XB270HU has been replaced by the XB271HU.

Wonder what happens if I increase the pt to 125... do you think it's meant to take that much?

Was playing fc4 @ 4k yesterday, it was nearing 120% pt and not touching 1470Mz even, always staying at 1430 @ 1.18v ... so I'm wondering if I'll just increase that pt and I'll have a higher throttle limit.

I would not raise it any higher unless you wanna water cool it imo.

Temps are good though.. that's not what I'm worried about, just that.. whether it takes 125 you know? Maybe it's too much from the default. Bit worried / not sure it'll take that much or if it's specified to run at such a TDP.

Oh well XB271HU wasn't available when I purchased it and seems like it's a minor upgrade besides the stand/frame design revamp. Hopefully since I'm at the end of the line the QA will be good and I'll receive screen without defects.

Btw I'm loving my 980ti. It's quite a beast. OCed to around 1455Hz core and +330Mhz on the memory so far. Since I'm on air I won't push the card more than that for the core.

See I told you 3dmark firestrike is not a good powerlimit test.. 3dmark2011 is much better..

Btw at what wattage its 120%? You should be safe up to ~315 320w on air..

    120 is 300w, 125 is 312.5

Wat? A XB271HU? Never heard of it and cannot find it in Sweden. Is it even out yet?

    (We don't have a 980 thread?)

Quick question - Why does the 980 have 4GB vRAM, where the 980M has 8GB?

What advantage would an extra 4GB give the M ?

None, probably charge a premium for it too, I could of sworn there was a 980 owners thread started by veteran.

Yea that's what I thought too, Googled for the thread but nothing showed up, checked the first few pages of the NVIDIA GPU forums too

Yea also what I was thinking, pointless having 8GB VRAM on a 980M
