I just bought this cpu and I ran some benches and the scores arent corresponding with the charts. For example in Cinebench 11.5 I get only 5.92 score which isnt very satisfying. I noticed that during the test my cpuz multiplier is 36 so the frequency is only 3600 mhz. Its stated that it has boost of 3800 mhz. So might be something wrong?
You'll need a z77 mobo to get most outta the cpu, i used to run my ivy on a z68 and it was hindered too.
Wow, thats a news for me, because I asked on this forum prior building my pc if it chipset matters for speed and someone told me that it doesnt. Btw, I have Asus b75 board. In task manager during test the cpu is at 100% and I have lots of free ram so I assume youre right. I dont see any other possible cause. My system is W7 64 bit.
There may be a bios update that'll let you push it a bit more but yeah, gotta be z77. That being said there's some really nice z77 mobos out there so it's not all doom and gloom i guess.
Check your BIOS/UEFI to check to see what its turbo'ing too. 3.6GHz on all 4 cores sounds right to me. I think 1 Core turbos to 3.8GHz and 2 cores goes to 3.7GHz and 3 and 4 cores is 3.6GHz
I think it is something like this. When i was running prime i had a stable 3,6ghz. When i was playing an old game (cod2) that uses only one core i had stable 3,8ghz. You can change this in the bios if you dont like it.
Yes youre right guys, I just read somewhere that its like that. Anyway, I updated my bios and now I get 5.97 in Prime which isnt bad.
