I never think too deeply about those things. I think people should stop thinking so hard at these questions and just live their lives to their fullest extent.
This ^^ - Ensure the survival of the species, for absolutely no other reason than to do the same Similar to working, we work to live, so that we can live to work, pretty pointless existence really
This implies that evolution and natural selection are processes backed by sentience, and are actively forcing us to reproduce to meet that goal. Obviously, that's not how it works. We reproduce simply because that's how life is. It does not imply meaning. Meaning is an abstract concept that only man, or a higher power (if you believe in that sort of thing), can create/decide on. Which is why I firmly believe that "the meaning of life" is simply to give your own life meaning. You design your own goals and purpose, and then actively strive to achieve them. We all find this "meaning" in the same manner. Although some are certainly more successful than others.
The question is loaded. A better one would be: is there a meaning to life? But even that's no good, because it's not clear what's meant by "meaning" here. If 'purpose', then we have a problem: purpose is necessarily subjective, because a thing's purpose is determined by intention, which is a property of minds. So if you ask what (if anything) the purpose of life is, this cannot be completely answered without also saying to whom that purpose is; to ask for an 'objective purpose' is to ask for something nonsensical. (To you, the purpose of a hammer is to drive nails; to me, it is to inflict blunt-force trauma - which is its 'true' purpose? A ridiculous question.) We might define a thing's 'purpose' as its intended end/function. Take away the intention and we're no longer talking about purpose at all, but just some end/function that the thing incidentally has, perhaps among many others.
