Basically it's like a beefed up Raspberry pi...

Not seen any for sale yet...maybe you guys in the US will have it first..

    Interested in prices+feedback.

My bro uses a pi and for price works great so am thinking is the extra cpu power (i.e a quad v a 700hz) and the extra ram really worth the bump in price?

Also is it worth getting one with built in wifi...tbh dont see the need for this if you have a laptop etc etc...

Ive got a Pi, I used it for an XBMC media centre for a while but got sick of its lag and bugs, tried to use it as a linux box to mess with but got sick of its uselessness and taking 10 minutes to do anything

Now it sits in my dumping area doing nothing

What you wanting to use it for?

Browsing is hopeless, it can't handle loading websites, CPU hits 100% and stays there, browsers are crappy, I think there is a Chromium build that works but it kills the Pi

The only thing it is any good for is text based programming, and watching videos as its chip has great x264 support - RaspBMC / OpenELEC etc work fine for watching videos, but in my experience it wasn't worth the headaches, network disconnecting from the stream even though the time still worked, which meant it had a network connection as it can not keep it's own time like a PC can

Switched to a laptop with XBMC and ditched the Pi

Mine is the original Model B though, 256MB RAM, the new B+ or whatever it's called has slightly better specs

EDIT - Actually you might want to check out RetroPi project, it runs emulators and old console games pretty well

just for movies and photos nothing else. (hence why I didnt wait for the hummingboard..decided that what I want it for it will be ok).

will be offline as much as possible...

so should be ok. yeah my bro is trying to use it for live streaming etc...

considering the price i paid for 64gb pendrive it's pretty good..(probably squeeze quite a bit on there).

I'd suggest one of the XBMC distros for the Pi if it's gonna be a media centre type machine, and OC it, most XBMC distros have that option during setup, I managed 940MHz from mine with openELEC

Movies and Pics should be fine, definitely offline they should be good, I was streaming via NAS and halfway through films it would freeze and eventually say "Network connection lost" or something similar, but it blatantly had not lost connection, as I said earlier it relies on the net to keep it's clock correct, which even with the network error it would still manage to do

Got a bit tedious rebooting the Pi halfway through films every night

It works for live streaming fine, to a point, not sure if it is the XBMC distros with the issue or the Pi itself, but happened to me with about 3-4 different XBMC distros and throughout numerous updates to each

EDIT - Yea you'll get a fair bit on a 64GB flash, depending on which Pi you've bought you might need a powered USB hub, mine only has 2 USB ports, and you can't extend them unless you use a powered hub, non-powered hubs pull too much from the Pi and everything stops

Keyboard & Mouse use both, I ended up dropping the mouse and sticking a WiFi dongle in instead

Yea, the majority of Pi OSs have OCing ability built into the setup process now, makes quite a difference going from 700MHz to 940MHz, like a 30%+ boost

It's just a set of clock speeds and vCores, you choose stock, medium, high, very high, Ultra etc

Yea I`ll be interested to hear how you get on, I was thinking about going for the B+ but didn't want to waste money on something Ive already got if there's not much improvement

There is a 512MB model too iirc

I wonder how XBMC on Android would be on this little guy....Since there isn't any Hummingboard builds of OpenElec or any distro with XBMC enabled yet aside from Android...

Which with Android it's hit or miss for me with XBMC.

Are you running an XBMC distro?

If yes, check the repositories for more streams

    99usd
but there are european resellers like newit and ecservices

openelec works nice on it.very fast.
i had a raspberry pi - but it was not fast enough.

ive seen geexbox and xbian also on it.

i would never use xbmc under android, caus android isnt the right plattform for xbmc.

Xbian was my favourite for a while, but there was a load of problems with the dev and people claiming he stole stuff, site had to go down, moved, reopened, then Xbian went downhill and others became much better
