What to do, what to guess .. I've been playing around with the idea wether or not I should post this as it still is a rumor. But no harm can be done, I do not have official information yet. But I am pretty sure that Matrox will release a new graphics card chipset on May the 15th likely under produced under codename Parhelia, previously know as G800/G1000.

Fun thing, Parhelia precisely means Sun Dog. A Sun Dog is an optical phenomenon produced by the refraction of sunlight through ice crystals in cirroform clouds. Parhelia are vertical bars of colored light (as tall as the apparent diameter of the Sun) .. now look at the Matrox logo. See something familiar ?

If we can believe the rumors then supposedly this is a GeForce4 maybe even 'GeForce' 5 killer. Now let us look at what the site MatroxUsers has been displaying/leaking/propagating/rumoring recently

- Memory speed will be faster than the current fastest (a GeForce4). Faster by a huge margin of victory (approximately 19GB/s bandwidth).
- It will not be 256 bit and will not be 128 bit. Expect clock speeds around 300 MHz. Also expect varied product offerings from this core after the initial products are released.
- Expect it to have a fully programmable Transform and Lighting. Displacement mapping is sure to be featured along with shaders. It will have the most powerful Transform and Lighting unit available.

One thing is sure though, if it in fact is true it'll be a rather expensive videocard.

So what can we expect .. when will it be announced .. Matrox stated soon. I just got unconfirmed information from a source we need to watch May the 15the closely ...

Wanna join the speculation, do it here
I think it will have 128bit TwinBank Memory Architecture running @ 600MHz DDR each = 19GB/sec & the card supports some DX9 features. As for the core i think it will run @ 300MHz 128bit x 4 piplines (512bit) core. I also think it will support 40bit colour.

It actually ahd me fooled for an hour .. until I noticed the color depth that is.
Nice fake !

It's very eay to do that, simple copy & paste, it did look right till i saw 128bit colour lmfao! & 4x ramdacs lol

Matrox is allready using 2 ramdac´s for their G400/450/500/550 series (dualhead and all?), so I can´t se why they couldn´t use 4 ramdac´s in a card aimed at the workstation market.
If you read the text, you will se that there will be atleast 2 different versions of the card. My guess would be one for the SOHO market, and one for professionals.

If this card can do what it´s supposed to do; outperform gf4, i will buy one, no question about it.
Especially after having owned a g450MAX and still missing the picturequality it gave me.
Unless they price it too high, that is.
Keepning my fingers crossed.
