Diagraming the project out with post-it notes allows for a greater understanding and provides a visual representation of the steps necessary to complete a project. CPM - the critical path method has been very indispensable to me. Also the Project Management Body of Knowledge, the PMBOK, is also indispensable. Is amazing how much time is saved when this kind of planning is put into a project at the very beginning.
