    I have a quick question.

Back when I first built desktop PC I had Windows 8.1 then I upgraded it to Windows 10 then a little bit later I upgraded that to Windows 10 pro.

I was wondering by upgrading my PC from Windows 10 home (which used the windows 8 product key) to Windows 10 pro from a product Key that I purchased if that freed up my Windows 8 product key to be used again for a reinstall of Windows 8 on a another PC or a Virtual Machine?

Original rumours started by a MS rep on their answers forum said that the previous OS key/license was consumed by the upgrade to 10, but has since been proven wrong, and I reinstalled 8.1 and reactivated 8.1 with the same key I used to originally upgrade to 10, so unless the key has run out of activations (try phone activation if so) then it likely will still activate 8.x fine

Ok cool thanks. Hmm So that means I can use my product key on the bottom of my laptop for a Windows 7 VM hmmm oh the possibilities.
