With all the recent banter in the forum about Valve, Half Life 3, Dota, ETC. I figured this should be posted in the news section where most people will read it. http://www.pcgamer.com/2012/04/21/valve-employee-handbook-leaked-read-it-here/ http://dl.pcgamer.com/Valve_Handbook_LowRes.pdf I highly recommend you take the time to read it all, it's worth it. It details exactly how Valve runs as a company and what their structure, or lack of a structure, is all about. Here is an excerpt:
Is it some revolutionary new way to run a company? No, just like Google's time to do whatever you want...it works for a specific set of people. This specific set is a highly creative, driven team that's doing something that, for the most part, is an amazingly fun dream job. Letting the artists be artists is definitely something worth doing. THat said, does this only apply to the creative side, or are people like Steam support included also?
