    HD Movie trailers

    Some other HD stuff

You need Quicktime 7 to view these. Here are the system requirements to view HD.

If you can get your hands on a newer Mac, QT-HD content is GPU accellerated.

WMV HD Content which can be played with Windows Media Player 10. It's GPU accellerated on nVidia cards if you have the PureVideo Codec.

ATI has enabled WMV acceleration on almost all of their video cards through shaders. NVidia on the other hands, had the broken VPUs on all the 6800Ultras and GTs that were advertised originally to acclerate WMV9. If you have a really beefy CPU and at least 1.5gig of ram, playback isn't an issue for most 720p content. The 1080i and 1080p stuff is much more system intensive.
If anyone is interested in this stuff, I highly recommend, Step Into Liquid, a DVD that comes with 2 discs, one a normal version, and one a WMV version that is absolutely amazing. T2 Extreme is another dual disc version, and has a verison of T2 mastered in 1080progressive. It is amazing obviously as well.

edit: also, you do NOT need a Purevideo codec to accelerate WMV on nvidia cards that support it.

BTW, i dont like the idea of buying a Pure Video Decoder for 50 bucks.

Hey HANSHOT1st, what if you have 1gb of ram. Would it still show a little effect on the quality of the video???

You need to buy Quicktime Pro to save streamed movies. Don't ask me why though.

Found some really nice 1080p/720p trailers for HDDVD discs.
They are VC1, which a little bit different from WMV9HD, but they still work in media player. If your system can decode them that is. Mine can't.
But they work great on the Xbox 360 from a memory stick/network/burned disc.

I got VLC, and they "work" in Media Player anyway, just not very well. 720p and 1080i is ok but 1080p is well choppy.

Smooth as silk on the 360 though. I pre-ordered my HDDVD add-on the other day. Hopefully will get that in the next week or when they release it. Going to dust of the projector for that. :D

With the apple trailer site, download quicktime alternative. When you click on the trailer to start watching it, it gives you the option to download, download and watch or just watch the trailer.

How many ppl have high definition movies here. From the private torrent sites like HDBits, Bit-HDTV and Torrent damage ive managed to download 576Gb of hd movies, pron and doco's.

    HD Playback on PC's

Hey dudes, I just wanna say, you dont need a beefy PC to play back HDTV at all, my specs are:

    Philips iQon:

    Pentium 4 2.6GHz
    512RAM
    120GB HDD (60GB Free)
    ATi Radeon 9600XT 128MB
    19" Widescreen Monitor (1440x900)

I've downloaded countless WMV HD clips, and they all play back superbly, not enough for you to notice any dramatic loss, the difference in the standard 640 AVI and the 720p and 1080p HD videos is astounding, theres so much clarity, Personally I think that a P4 2.4GHz+ and 512 RAM, WITH a Decent ATi GFX card is ideal to play back HD.
