But if I use Windows XP Professional O/S on the exact same computer (no changes in hardware), everything works as it should. With version 81.98 WHQL drivers, the Nvidia logo icon appears in the system tray and I am able to use MBM5 and the Nvidia plugin to read the GPU temp.

Using Windows 2K3 Server, the Nvidia logo isn't present, and MBM5 can't read the GPU temperature. The MBM5 plugin gets the GPU temp from the driver.

I got a reply from eVGA, but they did not answer my question regarding a 2K3 32 bit driver, they just told me that the 6200 card did not have temperature monitoring. That can't be true since I do get a GPU temperature under XP from the MBM5 plugin, and the temp rises as expected during game play to around 60C.

LOL I'm not going to be playing PC video games on a server, but I would like to monitor the system.

I sent eVGA this screen shot under XP of the temp showing in MBM5:

Wolverine69r a bit of advice please,I have had this problem ever since I the nvidia drivers went past version 77.50 that I get realy bad curser lag in games on any version after that.
Its realy annoying because it realy limits what driver I can use because of the lag.
Is there anything that you would know of this?

You should start a new thread about your problem as it's not really related to this thread. Also, Wolverine69r has been banned for some time so it might go unanswered in here.

Just to bring closure to my issue...

eVGA still just insists there is no temp sensor (even though MBM5 with the plugin sees one in WinXP Pro), and continues to ignore the W2K3 Server 32 bit driver question.

It's not a big issue, it's just the factory driver CD doesn't install on W2K3 Server 32 bit.

I wanted to use the Nvidia driver so I could get the GPU temp with MBM5 and the plugin but since that's not going to work and since the Win2K/XP driver might not be fully compatible, I'll just use the default Win2K3 Server 32 bit VGA driver.

I'm giving up on eVGA's support.

Thank You for the effort in helping me with this.

HI Wolverine. I have modded the modded (lol) inf from guru3d (v87.08) included in the set because i want all cards listed and i saw they removed the 7900GX2 entry.

SO i added 2 lines in the inf (1 with the "%" and 1 down for references).
But now my card is only called "G71". I forgot something ?
    Thx for your reply.

I have a HP Media Center PC with Windows XP Media Center Edition SP2. I downloaded the drivers for XP Media Center Edition (81.98) but the setup cannot detect my card. Then I went to download the drivers for Win XP (84.21) and it detects my card and install. But things does not seem to change. So I wonder which section do I need to modify for the updates for WinXPMCE (81.98) to detect my card?

I am new to video cards and still learning information about them, so I don't quite get the codes that you have posted. I will be very appreciated if you could help me with this.

    Thank you.

For 2K3 you need to enable hardware acceleration and u should install the latest DirectX and enable that.

    Classic control in 97.44

Search for the following line in your inf

    HKLM,"Software\NVIDIA Corporation\Global\NvCplApi\Policies",ContextUIPol icy, %REG_DWORD%,2

    and below it add this:

    HKLM,"Software\NVIDIA Corporation\Global\NvCplApi\Policies",SedonaDisabl e, %REG_DWORD%,2

Both ContextUIPolicy and SedonaDisable are full words, weird formatiing **** going on here.

Save the inf, reinstall the driver and hey presto you have the choice to use either control panel. All tweaks with nvtweak including oc options then work.

I dual boot 98se and xp and I have a 7600gs that I recently bought. 98 doesn't recognize it, I'm stuck in 640 by 480 and 16 colors. I don't need the newest functionality, my old fx5200 was strong enough for 98, but I upgraded for my xp side of the dual boot.

So, the newest 9x/me driver is 81.98. Can you help me have it recognize a 7600gs, as the .inf file you listed does not exist on this version. I don't need full funtionality, if it just matches the older cards in performance, that's good enough for legacy software.

BTW, I know what dosbox is, for those who suggest I should dump 98, and no, it doesn't run all my old dos software.

I was directed here from this thread: http://www.beyond3d.com/forum/showthread.php?p=912783#post912783

Edit: If this matters, my card is agp. I believe if you showed how to add geforce 7 compatibility you'd help a lot. And if you showed how to add pci-express compatibility and geforce 8800, that would be icing on the cake for any lurker who reads this thread and could be helped by it.

What NVIDIA and ATI need to do is open source their drivers. Apparantly ATI is strongly considering it, but NVIDIA is not.

Oops, I did not notice that you needed a driver for Windows 98 before now..!

Ok then, here is the last Win95/98/Me ForceWare driver, 81.98,
modded so it will install with ALL cards from GeForce 2 up to - and including - GeForce 7:

    http://www.megaupload.com/?d=Y6CQH0O2

If you want to update your driver through Device Manager,
the installation file is called NVAGP.INF (and not nv4_disp.inf as it's usually)

But it will be easier to just uninstall the old driver
    reboot
stop and cancel the "New Hardware found" Wizard
ignore the "Device not working properly"
-and then just run the 81.98_forceware_win9x_english_for_all_cards_up_to_G7x.exe

It will automatically extract its content to
    C:\NVIDIA\81.98_forceware_win9x_english\
and then start the installation through the file
    C:\NVIDIA\81.98_forceware_win9x_english\setup.exe

clokkevi - thanks for the win-98 mod'd driver. Question:

I've got this off-brand PCI-Express video card (XFX on the box) GeForce 6200LE.

    OEM: Vender Pine Technology Ltd
    PnpID: VEN_10DE&DEV_0163&SUBSYS_215E1682&REV_A1
OEM Device from Pine Technology Ltd

This is a PCI-Express board that I've installed on an Asrock 775DUAL-VSTA motherboard (Via PT880 Pro/Ultra northbridge). I'm not 100% positive that the PCI-E bus slot is fully recognized by win-98, but assuming that it is - would the mod'd win-98 driver that you posted work on this PCI-E board?

The link works ok for me:

It opens a page that asks you to type in a 3 letter code to access the file.

Then it starts a countdown (45 seconds) and then gives you a "download now" button. Here is the resulting URL:

    http://www65.megaupload.com/files/6...are_win9x_english_for_all_cards_up_to_G7x.exe

If you try that, it should work, unless it's a timed URL.

I use IE6 with Java 5.9 or 6.0. Maybe the site uses Java?
