Can't say the same for GSC. I still view the first STALKER as a bit of a fluke, as it was the only one I enjoyed. And even then, there's a lot to it that I thought was terrible.
I know a lot of "STALKER" fans will be pissed about this. But, really, there's no need to hate on it without knowing anything about how Bethesda will treat it.
Hell, they didn't have to even do this. Could've just left the name dead in the water.

I am glad someone picked it up at least, and I will still enjoy it.
It surely wont have the same feel...I mean this game was about atmosphere and all 3 sTALKER games had it......I loved them all, even though Clear sky turns pretty much into a shooter at the end. I still liked it.
CoP was top-notch in my book.
Sad to see it go, but maybe it is not completetly dead, but dead as we knew it.

As much as i want STALKER 2, i have my issues with that whole situation.
Don't get me wrong, i love Fallout and Skyrim, Beth is not a bad dev / publisher.
What i'm trying to say is that most likely the whole STALKER feeling will get lost in the process.
It's also worth nothing that they can "build it on their own tech", better get that old ass engine out the window, Beth.
And what about Fallout? Those two series share a lot of details.

I was wondering about that myself. Maybe a Fallout MMO and a Stalker single player game? I think they were considering a Fallout MMO at one point.

And there i was hoping that Obsidian is silently working on a new Fallout based on the "updated" Skyrim engine.

pretty much...
Bethesda, if you don't hire east of of Carpathians, this will end up as another post-apocalythic fps, that could happen ANYWHERE.
Stalker isn't Skrym or Fallout, a fictional universe where anything goes as long as it's remotely coherent.
STALKER is about very particular patch of planet Earth with it's unique heritage , AND WHAT HAPPENS AFTER...

Interesting, but I hope that this and Survarium don't compete against each other so that neither succeeds. I do have to say that Survarium's screenshots look much better and truer to the original STALKER series. Considering that those guys actually are the same ones that made the original games, it still gets my vote at this point.

Survarium was the proper official MMO take was it not?
This is more of a fan made effort though I still haven't found much info.
(They also have really high prices for the shop items but apparently it's intended for donation purposes to get the game funded faster.)

Heyho, German publisher bitComposer Games (Jagged Alliance: Back in Action, was also Publisher for Stalker: Call of Prypiat in EU and US) secured the rights to Stalker videogames. No mention of specific projects in development, though they want to "follow the success of the franchise and see lots of potential for it in the future".
