Alrighty, E3 2004 is almost upon us (just afew months away)... And already Nokia has confirmed that it will be showing the next generation of the N-Gage (dubbed N-Gage 2)! Now already i've been over looking the flaws of the original N-Gage and possible solutions or additions in the next N-Gage (and things that we [the consumers] want to see in next N-Gage: 1. Easier inserting/removing of the games 2. VGA Camera (with flash.. keep ur fingers crossed, kinda like the new Siemens) 3. Normal holding position when using the N-Gage 2 as a phone 4. A less common media for the game cards to prevent piracy (ie. Not MMC), but they may stick to MMC or move to SD if they want the N-Gage 2 to be backward compatible 5. More powerful and hardware componants, to make new generation games run flawlessly (maybe that compared to PS2), very do-able with ATI and NVidia making chips for mobile right now. 6. Unique hardware componants, to prevent the games to be run on other systems 7. A Larger display (with a higher resolution, maybe that of 320x240) and landscape-form rather than portrait form 8. Better buttons and layout. 9. Longer battery life 10. Stereo Sound (loudspeaker) 11. MP3 Player (like the original N-Gage) with internal space for storing MP3's and not having to share memory with the games! 12. Ability to play High Quality FULL SCREEN movies with stereo sound! Kinda like what Sony's trying to do with its PSP. What Nokia can do is make a software that comes in the package of the N-Gage 2, and you insert ALLREADY bought DVD's (to bypass piracy laws) and it converts it to High Quality Full Screen movies, which can then be played on the N-Gage 2! This should be different to that of current *.RM movies since this will be FULL SCREEN! And the screen size and resolution of the N-Gage 2 will be much higher! 13. Backward compatible with Series 60 programs! 14. 3G and TRI-BAND 15. High Resolution TFT LCD, fast response rate, wide viewing angle! 16. WiFi 802.11 Lan connection (along with Bluetooth 1.2)
... NGage sucks. Just stupid Java Applets. Now nintendo, if they made a Phone Boy Advance or something, big bucks
Ummm two things... the N-Gage is not only Java! Almost all of its games are C++ And yes you can make phone calls with the N-Gage 2. With the N-Gage 1 you can go to offline mode, where the sim card and antenna has been switched off so that when your on a plane, you could still use the n-gage for gaming!
N-Gage is 0% C++ 100% Java It is based on the Symbian Java Micro Edition. So are the games. http://www.n-gage.com/R1/en/gamedeck/gamedeck_faq_gaming.html
