i've read some LCD's only support 6bit, while other supports 8bit color. The 6bit, will use dithering, (alternating colors really fast) to represent the other colors that it can't represent for real.

    1. do 6bits look significanly worse than 8bit LCD's?
    2. how can we find which monitors are 6 & 8? Anyone care to list them?

    Thanks!

Hmm, those monitors' contrast ratios are a little bit on the weak side. Hope you don't mind not having deep blacks.

6 bit is only used in tn screens. i dont know how to tell if its 6 or 8 bit, but i think you can be sure that the cheap models will be 6 bit.

I'm telling you in terms of quality and performance the BenQ FP241W is still one of the top dogs. However good luck finding it, the price is going up and they are becoming scarce.

    Greetings,

You can also consider the LG L245WP-BN (which is a MVA panel).
I have one of those and i´m quite happy with it´s performance.
