Angry Help with dual monitors! Urgent :/ - 08-18-2012, 19:59 | posts: 1

So i recently had a EVGA Gtx 560 2gb superclocked, but i needed more than 2 monitors so i switched to the XFX Double D FX-785A-CDFC Radeon HD 7850 2GB 256-bit.

Well currently i am only trying to use dual monitors, and it was working fine but today i ran into a problem.

So the problem is that when I plug in the second monitor this is what happens :

The second monitor shows everything just fine.
But then the first monitor just gets detected and undetected by windows.
You can hear the sound as if you were plugging and unplugging a usb device. It just goes on and off forever. I tried updating the drivers, and it didnt help.

Monitor 1 : HDMI
Monitor 2 : DVI

I would connect DVI 1st and then connect HDMI. In CCC you may look for automatic/manual detection. There may be resistance problem with cable and detection may give wrong results.

I personally do not use HDMI and would not ever get monitor without DVI/Displayport just because of maximum frequency/resolution.

You probably got with graphic card DP 2 DVI reduction, try to use it. If you had before nVidia drivers installed, did you uninstalled them? It may be issue too, but not very probable.

There is another possibility: in case you have PC/one of monitors connected to electric circuit with different phase. If PC is in UPS and one monitor just directly in wall outlet it creates minor voltage difference.

Monitor 2 you might not have the right options on

Monitors since 2007 need to have "Reduce DVI frequency" and "use alternate DVI mode" enabled, as LCD's use different circuitry then the DVI's that CRT's used
