That's a 28% decrease in profits compared to last year of the same quarter.

Guess AMD had better give themselves a shake, and provide some competition as they did in the old days.

Normally i would instantly despise a corporation making such high profits, like I used to hate Microsoft, EA etc. But for some reason I'm glad Intel are doing so well

Just don't be cheap on the CPU thermal paste this time...

The thermal paste they put on was better than most aftermarket brands. Problem was that they layered it on.

In other news, this shows why Intel is desperately in a race to the bottom of the power spectrum and is going full force into mobile. AMD are still clinging to an idea that is no longer relevant being the main force in their sales.

Problem is actually the gap between the IHS, the glue used to adhere it rises too high off the die.

Nice profit, no doubt partly due to the 200% markup Intel add to all their hardware.

A bit of exaggeration here, some truth. Intel may be claiming a few more bucks due to lack of real competition in the desktop segment but most important is the fact that amd is lowering their prices even at loss level to have a chance in the segment. You think if amd were offering performance per clock and such as intel level that amd would sell a fx8150 for 160€ just to please his clients? It´s all about the profit and both companies don´t give a crap about their costumers unless it hurts the business.

edit: i forget to mention i was refering to desktop cpus, where there´s all the fuss.

What's weird is: Can we even claim Intel didn't know the gap was too large? :3eyes:

Actually I was thinking more about Intel SSD's and motherboard chipsets.

It probably has something to do with the way they are put together that didn't allow a more fine coating of the TIM. Remember, if it works and keeps the temperatures within desired limits with a standard heatsink, anything else is not their problem or goal.

... and in the same quarter (Q2 2013), AMD posts a net loss of $74 million.
